Why would they comply in the absence of a warrant? The parents need to review their legal rights. There are conditions in which I would permit a government agent inside my home without a warrant, and I have done so when filing a report of a crime. However, I would never permit them inside my safe, whether I had anything inside that safe or not.
CPS came to my house once to investigate my granddaughters ‘spiral break’ when she fell off her scooter and broke her leg. I let them in to talk to her but stated my conditions first. Not alone, I’d be sitting right beside her and if they strayed from the topic they would be stopped and escorted out the door.
They said okay and at first they abided but eventually they had to get to the part where they started asking about her Mom and Dad’s relationship. I stopped them, told her not to answer and escorted them to the door.
Never heard from them again. lol
You definitely need to know your rights anymore.
They should have joined HSLDA. It would have saved them a lot of grief.
“The Zimmers let the woman inside”
“She also demanded that he remove the guns from the safe and show them to her, which he did.”
Sorry, but the family lost their case. No matter what this case worker threatened, no matter how angry she got, no matter that the police officer asked (or told?) them to let her in, they should have NEVER allowed her entry. Period. They should have responded to her demands by asking to see a warrant. Suing for unlawful and unconstitutional home intrusion when they let her in? They dont have a leg to stand on.
