Why do people find it necessary to make personal attacks. Her HP leadership was questionable, but what company was doing well against MS during those years?

Why is commenting on her past performance a personal attack? Fiorina is a female Donald Trump. She has no more chance of winning than Trump has. And while Trump may keep some of the moron vote from voting for Jeb, Fiorina may help split the conservative vote and do nothing but aid Bush's chances.

I MUST defend Microsoft here.

HP was NEVER in competition with Microsoft—they were allies.

HP Made printers, of course, and had a reputation of making the best laser printers in the world. They also made computers, which had Microsoft operating systems on them, and for each HP PC sold, Microsoft also sold a OS license. As Microsoft grew bigger, especially after the success of Windows 95 and the Office suite, HP tried to sell MORE PCs, but under Carly—the whole quality thing was replaced by a volume thing, and they cut corners everywhere in a bid to be on top, challenging Dell, Gateway 2000, Compaq and even IBM. They lost, and got bought out by Compaq, who later bought of Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC)—maker of the PDP and VAX computers, and one of the finest mainframes (technically a mini, but everyone thinks that a PC) I’ve ever worked on.
