For the easily offended, some foul language exists in the article

________________________________________________________

This is very unfortunate for the cops and everyone else. Some is fabricated against law enforcement and some is not.

But fabricated or not, America's divide continues to grow.

officers have stepped back from engaging in proactive policing
********************
So they’re no longer going to intimidate people into unwarranted searches , issue parking tickets to vehicles that aren’t parked (they just issue to the license plate number passing by) , steal from the public with civil forfeiture , operate traffic camera enforcement systems support other government agencies enforce their own regulations masquerading as law or otherwise engage on their war on the productive middle class... Hallelujah!

Let the “urbanites” police themselves.

People being arrested on their 10th or 20th offense of drug trafficking
being released after just a few months would make me quit. It takes away
the "serving the community", and insults the profession. If the police are
prevented from doing their job then what's the point.

This revolving door needs to end.

It’s all by design.

Police academies train them improperly and the Unions protect thugs and harass honest officers who won’t hold “the line” in unity with illegal police activity. It’s an honorable profession and you need ethical people. We have passed some unethical laws that have to be changed.

Self examination and reform is painful but necessary in all roles of life at one point or another. Police abuse just became too widespread while it was being called professional standard of operation or accepted practices and nothing was done about the abuse. All that needs to be reviewed and reformed in light of the constitution and American-American ethics. But not by the Feds or leftists... The Federal police are out of control as well. They have named citizens their terrorist enemy.

It would disgruntle any gendarmes that an unaccountable government can jump into a situation laced with racial distrust and do the most bizarre things.

The actions themselves... this looks like the devil talking.

There ought to be a greater emphasis on the protective role of private arms than there is today, not that we should expect vigilantes to be patrolling the streets, but something a lot better than leaving it all to the boys in blue who are there in minutes when seconds count. Leave your security to the mercy of the liberal-of-the-month club and you won’t HAVE any security.

“Morale is low because we don’t have the public’s backing,” she said, noting that the same people who verbally or even physically attack police officers are the same ones who call them for help.

If they don't have the public's backing then maybe it's because they don't work for it? Let's look at three recent incidents. Freddy Gray. He did nothing wrong except run. Police had nothing on him, but they chased him and arrested him. According to newspaper reports almost a third of the people arrested by the Baltimore Police are released without charges. In other words police haul people in just to harass them and cause them problems. Why should the public back you then? In Ferguson the whole Michael Brown incident started when Wilson pulled him over for walking in the street. The purpose was to give him a citation and earn a few more bucks for the Ferguson city government. The Fergeson PD is a revenue raising agency and not a law enforcement agency. Many of the North County suburbs are. So if your primary contact with your police is a citation that will cost you time and money then why should the police get your backing? Walter Scott was pulled over, allegedly for a broken tail light. Even if it was true then it's a citation. But if it was an excuse to pull a black guy driving a Merceded over then it was harrassment. Again, when your only contact with the police will cost you time and money then why should you feel any sense of support for them? If police feel detached from their public then maybe it's because they work hard at alienating them?
