Obama Hurls Insults at Liberals on Trade

Progressives called ignorant, insincere, and motivated by politics, sparking fury among President's base

President Obama’s performance in pushing for approval of fast track legislation of the Trans Pacific Partnership trade deal, in which he’s allied with Republicans and has spent the last week castigating and insulting liberal Democrats, has been one of the most bizarre and ill-advised performances of his presidency.

I spent many years working for senior Democratic Senators such as Lloyd Bentsen and House Democratic leaders beginning with the legendary Speaker Tip O’Neill, and have never seen any president of either party insult so many members of his own party’s base and members of the House and Senate as Mr. Obama has in his weeks of tirades against liberals on trade.

In nearly every story/movie about efforts to raise up the devil in human form on earth, the disciples usually get bitten/mangled/destroyed by the incarnation for any number of things: things don’t go right, he doesn’t get what he wants, or he is foiled completely.

We see what happens when the Democrat disciples end up on the wrong side of that human form.

Except he squandered that political capital. That was about social security reform, which was a good idea and one he ran on. He ended up spending no political capital during his second term and instead wasted it. He had 55 Senators and the House and promptly lost both 22 months later.

I didn’t have an issue with the Medicare bill since he ran on the exact proposal he enacted. One can question whether it was ‘paid for’, if there is such a thing, but he created that policy to attract senior voters and it worked effectively. When someone runs on something and enacts it after I vote for them, I can’t complain much. Frankly, that policy had a basis to exist as it wasn’t covered previously, and if I recall correctly it actually beat budget numbers...a near impossibility in DC.

That may be the single thing that the Traitor-in-Chief has ever said that I can agree with.

According to the panel discussion i saw, you are wrong. The dealings are secret because of the many nations and interested parties involved. It is necessary to not make public the various sub agreements that go into the total that could be killed by publishing them

It was also revealed that such negotiations are always played close to the vest. The current policy is not unique

What amazes me is that this flap has smoked so many progressives pretending to be conservatives whining out of the Free Republic woodwork

I wonder if the little bastard has or has had any poison pills stuck in the bill’s language, like the UN Small Arms treaty, which I have heard is in there but haven’t a shred of proof. But after we’re living the 0bamacare disaster, who here trusts that little SOB now?

Yes, they are played close to the vest.

But, I do not trust President Obama on anything.

Maybe the trade deal does not have any nasty surprises.

But given President Obama’s record, I do not wish to take that chance.

Obama has been hurling insults at everyone except himself, his racist wife, and Muslims.

What do you get when you mix Stalin with a Muslim? You get something close to Obama. He thinks he knows more about everything and that it is governments role to force everyone to comply with his own “superior” views.

“Trust me” said the spider to the fly.

Obama has given me not one single reason to trust him as he has proven over and over again that he does not have America’s best interests at heart with his agenda. If Congress has been kept from the details of the trade bill, they should not be voting for the bill, in my opinion, whether the secrecy about the terms is unusual or not (many disagree with the secrecy, not just conservative types). You would think one destructive bill that you had to ‘pass to find out what’s in it’ would be a lesson learned, especially with the proven liar in the WH & his lying administration.

The phrase he used indicated he was gonna burn some supporters. And as we both agree, boy, did he.
