God’s holy minister on climate.
Pope Francis warned “the powerful” that it was their responsibility to feed the planet and that environmental sinners will face God’s judgement.
The Guardian reported:
Pope Francis has warned the powerful of the Earth they will answer to God if they fail to protect the environment to ensure the world can feed its population.
The planet has enough food for all, but it seems that there is a lack of willingness to share it with everyone, Francis said at a mass to mark the opening of the general assembly of the Catholic charitable organisation Caritas.
We must do what we can so that everyone has something to eat, but we must also remind the powerful of the Earth that God will call them to judgment one day and there it will be revealed if they really tried to provide food for Him in every person and if they did what they could to preserve the environment so that it could produce this food.
The striking comments from the Argentinian pontiff came ahead of the upcoming publication of a papal encyclical on the ethical aspects of environmental issues that is eagerly awaited by campaigners for action to address global warming.
An encyclical is a statement of fundamental principles designed to guide Catholic teaching on a subject. It is issued in the form of a letter from the pope to bishops around the world.
Does the Pope know that reaching across the aisle to the devil is bad? Maybe someone should write HIM a letter.
IT’S NOT A STATEMENT OF ECO-NUT SUPPORT.
Sounds like a traditional “help the poor” homily.
Could even be read as a condemnation of eco-nut policies that prevent the use of the land for production!
More blather from Raul Castro’s favorite pope. Interesting his tenure as pope is regarded as his “reign,” not unlike a king. Too bad Benedict XVI can’t give him the boot and say, “OK.. enough of this communist insanity.”
“The striking comments from the Argentinian pontiff came ahead of the upcoming publication of a papal encyclical on the ethical aspects of environmental issues that is eagerly awaited by campaigners for action to address global warming.”
Because, based on Frankie’s philosophy, those who don’t but into the scam of “global warming” have destined themselves to an eternity in hell.
*buy into the scam...
How many times does a Catholic on FR have to explain that the Pope’s infallibility has NOTHING TO DO with the Pope’s OPINIONS about economics, or global warming, or, indeed, anything else?
How many times is some non-Catholic on FR going to ask Catholics whether they are beginning to doubt that the Pope is a god?
How many inches thick are the skulls of those who, after ten, twenty, or a hundred explanations of the actual meaning of “infallibility,” still post these questions on FR?
“A condemnation of eco-nut policies...”
I’m highly doubting that, since he’s come out clearly in the whacko, “sky is falling because of global warming” camp.
No scientific proposition has EVER been defined to be Catholic dogma. Never. Not one. Never. Never. Never.
Only your last sentence is true.
Perhaps your assertions should be addressed to the pope himself, since he’s so irretrievably convinced Christians are failed if they don’t subscribe to dictates of the Church of Climatology, while at the same time responding with “who am I to judge?” on the subject of homosexuality.
Damned right he’s not infallible... but he doesn’t sound convinced of that fact.
Are you Catholic? If not, why do you care? I am Catholic, and I couldn’t care less what he thinks about the climate or immigration.
Exactly.. he does seem to implicitly (if not pointedly) have America in his crosshairs, doesn’t he?
I haven’t been in that church since the very late 1970s, but his comments affect the thinking of millions of people in this country, and he’s come down squarely on the side of the political left.
That’s why I care what he says.
He, the man, is not infallible. If he says something green is purple, he would be wrong.
Infallibility means the Holy Spirit prevents him from teaching error on faith and morals. It is a negative power. He is not given a gift, but his office is protected by the Holy Spirit, protecting Christians everywhere.
They are people with limited intellects. Don’t bother.
CRACKHEAD POPE.......
Ok, fine. Then get off the backs of rational Catholics here on FR who give his opinions on worldly and political issues the weight they deserve.
Since when has the Word of God meant anything to Catholics? If it did, they wouldn’t worship Mary and the misnamed saints. They wouldn’t tell their sins to a man in a dress. They wouldn’t believe the murmurings of scared children as being from God.
Chalk it up as a bad Pope. The Church had them before — think of the period from roughly 800 through 1100 AD. Benedict IX resigned for a sum of money, Sergius ordered a hit on another Pope and John XII allegedly raped female pilgrims. Its happened before, it will happen again, and it most definitely is happening now.
