I think The Smithsonian has dibs.

That means the Clintons will sell it and collect the service charge.

I decided to go see BB when we lost John Lee Hooker.

Saw him at Wollman Rink in Central Park. Spyrogyra was the warm-up act.

Spyrogyra?
I was just walking down that lane tonight.

I miss Maynard Ferguson.

Buddy of mine’s dad was Maynard Ferguson’s bus driver. Used to get us in for free.

I got to see him in a small venue in Milwaukee about 10 years ago. His band warmed up the audience with a very tight 45 minute set before he came out. He only played about 8 songs, but I wouldn't trade that night for anything. I hummed Rock Me Baby (his closing song, and it went on for about 10 minutes) all the way home.

If you ever get the opportunity, check out The Thrill is Gone from the album he did with Eric Clapner (yes, I know it's really Clapton), Riding With the King. The last minute or so of that song with the two of them talking to each other through their music is really something to listen to.

RE BB King:
Bourbon time... and about three hours on the Stratocaster.

RE Khent:
Concrete shoes, and dump him somewhere over Marianas Trench... but make sure his/hers/its concrete shoes MATCH the clothes - you KNOW particular the flamers are about that sh*t...

It’s a tough loss... but he had a helluva good run.

In his 80s and still touring, playing gigs. Damn. A Man.

He will be missed. I join in prayer for all his loved ones who are dealing with his homegoing.

There have been pretenders.

There have been con-tenders

But there has been, there is, and there will always be only one King of the blues.

If it hadn't been for getting to see B.B. King open a concert on a summer camp trip in the summer of 1969, I never would have tried to play a guitar seriously.

One more time for Daddy B. . . .

B.B. King, King of the Blues (1960)

B.B. King, Live at the Regal (1965)

B.B. King, Lucille (1967)

Awesome story & gig, getting paid to watch & listen to BB, no less.

Condolences & thank you to BB’s family.
