Pardon my absence for a bit. I don’t have much to do today, so I thought I’d just try out that handy-dandy Chinese Rot cure.

The cure didn’t sound all that bad. Except for the scraping the blisters part. And the blood part. And the Mennen part. And the holding you down part. And the tears of pain part. And the taping handkerchiefs part.
But other than that it seemed OK.

Holy cow. I had missed that Chinese Rot bit. Kind of wish I could un-read it.

On the subject of books, I was browsing through a Half Price Books at lunch today and found an almost pristine first edition copy of the The Two-Ocean War by Samuel Elliot Morrison for only $5.99.

<>During actions starting today five British destroyers sink the Japanese cruiser HAGURO in the Malacca Strait.<>
The 26th Destroyer Flotilla had fought the last major surface gun and torpedo action of World War II and carried out one of the finest sinkings of a heavy ship by destroyers alone.
Battle of the Malacca Strait.

The German spy captured by the Canadians survived the war and later worked for the German navy, per Wikipedia.
