In a pre-taped interview to air Sunday on Univision’s Public Affairs program “Al Punto,” Henry Cisneros says former San Antonio mayor Julian Castro is at the top of Clinton’s list of running mates. Castro is currently secretary of HUD.
According to a transcript of the show, obtained by The Miami Herald, Cisneros says, “What I am hearing in Washington, including from people in Hillary Clinton’s campaign, is that the first person on their lists is Julián Castro.” He also says the Clinton’s campaign “… don’t have a second option.”
Cisneros then said, “He is the superior candidate considering his record, personality, demeanor and Latin heritage.”

Other seekers? I thought that hairy screed already proclaimed her the only viable cant-idate. Meanwhile, there’s a whole flock of gopE wannabees. If Dr. Carson wants all of them at a debate, that’ll be about a 30 second sound bite from each and show over. Further affirming that the pubs have their collective heads where the sun don’t shine.
The panderfest intensifies.
Same exact thing was said of the Democrat field on 2008. It was supposed to be Hillary’s coronation, right? Then a challenge emerged from out of Left field.
A repeat of that scares the hell out of the Clintons, and shes probably a little more vulnerable now than she was then. There are two possible credible challengers, the Gov of CT and the former Gov of MD (I get their names mixed up, just call them the M&M Boys). Both of whom appeal better to Progressives on policy, even tho they are burdened with penises.
If Hillary can lock in Hispanic Democrats early, it’ll be critical to her getting the nomination. Especially since there’s a belief in the Dem consulting ranks that Hispanic men might not be quite as ready to pull the lever for a woman and Hispanic women will be. Suggesting, falsely, that Castro will be VP will mitigate all those risks pretty well.
If Julian Castro was a Republican, the media would denounce him as totally unqualified to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency. Palin was governor of a state and was treated as unqualified. Running HUD is a lower level of responsibility to running a state. If Julian was not “Hispanic” he wouldn’t even be mentioned as a potential running mate.
