Global warming fueling fewer but stronger hurricanes, study says
Washington Post ^ | May 18, 2015 | By Angela Fritz

Warmer ocean temperatures appear to be fueling more intense hurricanes at the expense of the overall number of storms, says a new study published today in Nature Climate Change.

Over the past decade, studies have analyzed ad nauseam how warmer temperatures might be changing the annual number of hurricanes, or the maximum intensity.

But in practice, the connection between hurricanes and climate change has been a hard nut to crack because of an equally simple caveat — we just don’t have enough years of good historical data to predict how hurricanes intensity or frequency might change in our warming future.

So hurricane researchers at Florida State University have turned the conversation on its head. Instead of examining how either the number of hurricanes is changing, or how the intensity is changing, they investigated how the relationship between frequency and intensity might be altered by warmer ocean temperatures.

They said there would be more frequent and more severe storms...now that their predictions have failed, rather than admit they were wrong, they have now moved the goalposts again.

Quiet 2014 Atlantic Hurricane Season Comes to a Close

"It has been a record-breaking nine years since a Category 3 hurricane (or stronger) made landfall along U.S. coastlines. The last was Hurricane Wilma in 2005 (Sandy was not a hurricane when it hit the northeast in 2012). The United States has never recorded a nine-year period without a hurricane touching its shores. The prior record for the longest stretch, from 1861 to 1868, was set during the Civil War, according to Colorado State University climatologists."

Was reading a paper posted on another thread - can’t recall the thread or the paper at the moment (someone named Robinson?). Anyway, they had all sorts of graphs and charts showing either no increase, or a decrease in storms and tornadoes..

The paper was written or published for the American physicians association or some such.

So, if the number of storms are decreasing, they it only stands to reason that they’d get more intense in the liberal mind..

..... Don not be confused folks .... It's a well know scientifically proven fact that "Global Warming" and "Climate Change" is whatever scientists and studies want it to be.

Obey

But but they PROMISED us MORE hurricans and that those hurricanes would be MORE powerful, but now they are saying Less Hurricanes, but More powerul Hurricanes?????

So Less + More = Overall the SAME....

Just covering their bases, the LIARS!

I remember right after Katrina. They were telling us there would be “tons” more hurricanes next season all thanks to global warming...so many hurricanes in fact they added lots of names for them on their list. The next season, we didn’t even get one.

This supposed study illustrates what you get when you allow confirmation bias coupled with dust-bowl empiricism and the lack of a physical based hypothesis prior to trolling through the data. In short, it is bad science.

Physicist Howard Hayden's one-letter disproof of global warming claims [pre-Climategate]

Dear Administrator Jackson:

I write in regard to the Proposed Endangerment and Cause or Contribute Findings for Greenhouse Gases Under Section 202(a) of the Clean Air Act, Proposed Rule, 74 Fed. Reg. 18,886 (Apr. 24, 2009), the so-called "Endangerment Finding."

It has been often said that the "science is settled" on the issue of CO2 and climate. Let me put this claim to rest with a simple one-letter proof that it is false.

The letter is s, the one that changes model into models. If the science were settled, there would be precisely one model, and it would be in agreement with measurements.

Alternatively, one may ask which one of the twenty-some models settled the science so that all the rest could be discarded along with the research funds that have kept those models alive.

We can take this further. Not a single climate model predicted the current cooling phase. If the science were settled, the model (singular) would have predicted it.

(excerpted from Professor Hayden's letter to Lisa P. Jackson, Administrator Environmental Protection Agency. More at link.)

yup. Ten years ago they were swearing that global warming was/would cause unprecedented hurricanes.

Ooops.

So, now they’re changing their minds. But of course the rest of the BS they are telling us is ‘settled science’.

“Study says...”

Warning, warning, passive voice liberal pseudo science alert.

Remember when previous “studies” warned of more hurricanes?

And rest assured, when this “study” proves to be as inept as previous ones, the physics flunkouts will have a fresh new one for you.

Financed, of course, with your tax dollars...welfare for those who really cannot do science, but bought a degree anyway.

The hurricanes just seem stronger because the 24 hour news idiots make it seem like the end of the world.
