The ERA and Mark Kirk, Quisling Extraordinaire
Illinois Family Action ^ | 5/2015 | Laurie Higgins

Posted on 05/19/2015 3:15:14 PM PDT by stars & stripes forever

Another day, another notch in the “Don’t Say You Weren’t Warned” belt that is squeezing the life out of conservatives: Mark Kirk has hocked another loogie in the spittle-splashed faces of conservatives who held their noses and helped elect him. He, along with U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD), has introduced a resolution to remove the ratification deadline for the Equal Rights Amendment, which has long since passed.

This comes on the heels of his shameless pandering to homosexual activists at a marriage-deconstruction rally in front of the U.S. Supreme Court a few weeks ago...

ILLINOIS GOP - It's time for MARK KIRK to go! Pray for a bold, principled candidate to take his place in 2016.

According to the Idaho case in federal court that killed the ERA in 1982, the only way a ratification window can be changed is to re-introduce the amendment in Congress and get two thirds of each House to approve it.

The method used in 1979 to change the ratification window via majority vote of each House and the signature of the president was ruled a violation of Article V and thus unconstitutional.

Also, the votes aren't there in Congress. It will die in committee.

It's time for MARK KIRK to go!

Well, OK. Should we send Roland Burris back?

[Well, OK. Should we send Roland Burris back?]

If MARK KIRK is the best GOP has to offer, we might as well hang it up.

No conservatives held their nose for Kirk. He won because the IL Rats knew it would be a waste of time and money campaigning against him.

In IL Kirk is the best you'll get. He replaced Burris and Obama for God's sake. This ain't Idaho.

I know that's cold comfort. But there it is.

Time has a way of erasing bad memories . . . . I had to look up Roland. I thought he had passed away.

On the other hand, you would think Kirk who had a near death experience certainly would have changed his voting record to be more in sync with his Creator’s values.

Then write the state off as another California and move because he’s a Democrat. Vote for evil and you are responsible for it and everything it does. Simple math. Saying one is not responsible for what they vote for is a non starter.

ERA raised from the dead last year in the Illinois House. It has been turned back 14 times in Illinois.

Boomers and older are familiar with ERA, but younger generations don’t have a clue about it. Just having MARK KIRK introduce a resolution to remove the ratification deadline for the Equal Rights Amendment shows we must always be vigilant.

He’s up for re-election. Kirk will be running against Tammy Duckwork (D) for his Senate seat.

[He’s up for re-election.]

No one is stepping up to run against Kirk in the primary? Unbelievable.

No, it wasn't raised from the dead. It died in 1979. Period. Any ratification by any state post-1979 is invalid because it occurred after the window closed. The Archivist of the United States will not accept and tally any ratification from any state on the ERA after the 1982 court ruling.

You've posted on this issue before. Stop wasting your time worrying about it. The votes aren't there to revive it. It's dead.

Best of luck with the move. Until we all leave these areas, we are hosed. They are not fixable and all people do by staying is fund liberal governance.

We are an evenly split country and our respective ideas are not remotely reconcilable. We either split willingly or end up in CW2.

Mark Kirk has long been suspected in IL to be a closet gay.

Can one of the noseholders explain to me how a Democrat in an R jersey is better for us than a real Democrat?
