Vatican appointee says gay sex can express Christ’s ‘self-gift’

ROME, May 19, 2015 (LifeSiteNews.com) -- Pope Francis has appointed radically liberal, pro-homosexual Dominican Father Timothy Radcliffe as a consultor for the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.

The Holy Father made the appointment on Saturday, according to Vatican Radio.

Father Radcliffe, an Englishman, author and speaker, was Master of the Dominican order from 1992 to 2001, and is an outspoken proponent of homosexuality.

"We must accompany [gay people] as they discern what this means, letting our images be stretched open,” he said in a 2006 religious education lecture in Los Angeles. “This means watching 'Brokeback Mountain,' reading gay novels, living with our gay friends and listening with them as they listen to the Lord."

In 2005, as the Vatican deliberated the admission of men with homosexual tendencies to study for the priesthood in the wake of the Church sex abuse scandal, Father Radcliffe said that homosexuality should not bar men from the priesthood, and rather, those who oppose it should be banned. ...

Making the Vatican News Site is like making the AP wire. They have to put stuff up every day to keep their jobs. Yes, it is one of the thirty most newsworthy things to happen in Rome on a given day, but the Pope doesn’t have time to spend hours on each of the thirty most newsworthy things that happen each day.

Do you really think that this Pope keeps track of what decisions Catholic News Agencies make and why? The man is not omniscient. If the Pope was known to consult EWTN before making all of his appointments, this would be relevant.

You may not lose sleep over this, but EWTN was concerned enough to call attention to this man before his appointment. He also speaks in front of youth conferences.

It looks like there was a concerted effort by practicing Catholics to make this man’s reputation known. I don’t know whether the Pope knew or didn’t know about his reputation, but because of all his controversial (supposedly misquoted) statements I do think he may know who this man is and what he believes. If he doesn’t it’s time to let the Pope know who he appointed or is it okay with you for this man to speak to youth groups?

I know of some that were begotten before, but none come to mind begotten after.

Sure there were.

Let's start with Alexander VII, who had at least 7.

Papal appointments are not U.S. Presidential appointments. There is not a time of public vetting after the one making the appointment indicates his intentions. Consequently, EWTN did not have any opportunity to contact the Pope and express their concerns.

Lots of people speak in front of youth conferences. Many youth conferences have lousy speaker. Frankly, if this appointment keeps him away from two youth conferences, the net effect will almost certainly be positive.

An auxiliary bishop would likely have much more clout. Given that the man is the former Master General of the Dominicans, this is nothing. It is like having sheriff Arpaio retire and then having the governor appoint him to a large panel to study water usage. Appointing him Archbishop of Westminster would be like appointing him Senator.

Your counting is not very good. You mean Alexander VI, not Alexander VII, and his acknowledged children were born at least a decade before he was elected.

Thus they were not begotten after his election.

Next.

Sodomizing another man's bung hole is Christ's “self-gift”?

Funny. I don't recall Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John mentioning this.

Why is it that so many sodomites try to convince themselves that anal sex is “beautiful”?

Could it be that sodomy is, in fact, just plain nasty?

I hope there are not a lot of speakers who have had legitimate objections expressed by a Catholic news channel be allowed as speakers at youth conferences. If there are, then frankly something needs to change within the Church.

His appointment will give him access and acceptance to many Catholic organizations. You seem to be accepting of this appointment. Many other Catholics will also be accepting of this appointment. He will have a pulpit to spread his garbage.

There are a number of different sorts of positions on the council. Have you heard of Martin Schlag? He is the only American in an equivalent position. I haven’t heard of him either.

His appointment will add nothing at all to his already having been Master General of the Dominicans. The Master General is easily among the top 300 positions in the Church—probably among the top 100—think of the clout of a former Senator. The current position is probably not among the top 10,000 and may not be among the top 20,000. The only reason it makes the news it that it is among the 6,000-8,000 that the Pope personally appoints. I would think that almost all Diocesan Vicar-Generals have more actual clout and importance. “Former Senator and current adviser to the library board.”

No I haven’t heard of him. I don’t imagine he has been making statements to ban Catholics that disagree with him on homosexuality or that we should see Brokeback Mountain to understand homosexuality.

Okay. I hope he wasn’t given this position after he made the statements on homosexuality. It looks like these were recent statements. He should also lose the position as Master General of the Dominicans too.

Given that posts like this are large collections of vituperative mouth-foaming (as evidenced by your repeated use of the word “cult”—no bias there, eh?), I’m not sure that the benefit-to-annoyance ratio of any reply to comments like it would be anything but a waste of time, falling on deaf ears of those who simply like to hear themselves talk.

Now, if commenters would like to dispense with at least the more spittle-flecked and rabid anti-Catholic rants (and instead ask questions in a manner which isn’t reminiscent of those preferred by those in the liberal MSM), maybe I could find some willingness to put some time into an answer. Otherwise... no, thank you; I gave up “spitting in the wind” and “throwing pearls before swine”, for health reasons.

The fowls are nesting in the mustard plant.

That’s the thing I could never figure out about that parable. The mustard plant can’t grow big enough to support bird’s nests. Fowls were often used to represent a destructive force - a carrion bird - ‘fowls of the air’.

Indeed, from the one seed a great plant grew. Now the carrion birds are nesting in it.

Now that this info is known, why hasn’t the Pope removed him?

We’ll take that as a...”Okay, I now see that the Roman Catholic cult is completely off the reservation. Thanks.” answer.

"969 "This motherhood of Mary in the order of grace continues uninterruptedly from the consent which she loyally gave at the Annunciation...

Sigh...

Still again getting it.

Luke 1:26-38    New International Version (NIV)

26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”

34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”

35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called[a] the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. 37 For no word from God will ever fail.”

38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

(will is NOT asking!)

(This ain't CONSENT)

I wish Benedict would come back. He made a big mistake by resigning as the Pope.

Was it his call?
