PAT BUCHANAN: Whose really to blame for GOP slide?
News Press ^ | May 20 2015 | Pat Buchanan

Posted on 05/20/2015 9:42:50 PM PDT by WilliamIII

As Middle America rises in rage against “fast track” and the mammoth Obamatrade deal known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership, The Wall Street Journal has located the source of the malady. Last Monday's lead editorial began: “Here we go again. In the 1990s Pat Buchanan launched a civil war within the Republican Party on a platform targeting immigration and trade. Some claimed Pitchfork Pat was the future of the GOP, though in the end he mainly contributed to its presidential defeats.” But, woe is us, “the GOP's Buchanan wing is making a comeback.” Now it is true that, while Nixon and Reagan won 49-state landslides and gave the GOP five victories in six presidential contests, the party has fallen upon hard times. Only once since 1988 has a Republican presidential nominee won the popular vote. But was this caused by following this writer's counsel? Or by the GOP listening to the deceptions of its Davos-Doha-Journal wing? In the 1990s, this writer and allies in both parties fought NAFTA, GATT and MFN for China. The Journal and GOP establishment ran with Bill and Hillary and globalization. And the fruits of their victory? Between 2000 and 2010, 55,000 U.S. factories closed and 5 million to 6 million manufacturing jobs disappeared.

Ignoring him and importing millions of Democrats didn’t seem to help.

If I could say it as briefly possible, “Because GOP politicians are more concerned about their DC/national image than what their constituents want.”

after the GOP (Gave Obama Power) party put the
impostor in office, the GOP focused on imposing
RomneyCARE and RomneyMarriage and arming al Qaeda.

of what use is the GOP to America?

NONE.

...the party has fallen upon hard times.

Yes, massive election wins in congress last two cycles, took the senate in 2014, own a large majority of the Governorships, large majority of State houses are GOP controlled...

A huge number of young energetic GOP running for POTUS, (some are even conservatives ! )

Buchanan sure has a weird definition of "hard times"

And don’t forget our support of the Joos. That always gets the Brigadiers into a frenzy.

“How could a high tax, big government type like Buchanan...”

You definitely have Buchanan confused with someone else.

blame Perot. Without Perot, HW wins and gets credit for the recovery and liberalism is discredited for another generation...maybe we get a flat tax...with clinton, he gets credit for the recovery and budget and is able to get the media libtards to circle the wagons and gop never truly recovered....

Pat Buchannan is far from being a Democrat. He may be the most “conservative” on the public scene today. In 1991 and 1992 he would have been the best President we could choose.

With the possible exception of Ted Cruz, Pat is the best one now, although he obviously could never be elected.

He is right on immigration, shipping our factories out of the country and he was right about the culture war.

Besides the big GOP wins, their private parties and celebrations what has that accomplished?

Take your time.

Not sure if I have that much time left on the earth...: )

Basically I was commenting on the fact Buchanan thinks the GOP is on hard times, which is the exact opposite of reality...

It's party time, power grabs, to hell with the country, constitution, the American people ..

Oh' yea vote for me next cycle...this time we will do something... / S

So sorry I didn't answer your question...

I know how important it is to you to know the ruminations of my mind...

What have the GOP accomplished...not much...

Except maybe to put some brakes on a runaway out of control White House...

So Instead of going 120 MPH into the jaws of all out socialism, we are running along around 60 MPH...
