The drum beat has been to push the propaganda no matter what.
They teach it to the children with zero science backing it.
And when a lie is repeated enough, people will preferentially believe it over any facts presented.
I have had conversation about this with idiots, er I mean liberals. The same argument is “i think they are missing some chromosomes”. Always the stupid chromosome talking point.
