I've read some more on it and the law has since been revised to target precious metals and scrap metals purchases. BUT that is not how the law was originally written. And thus it WAS on the books but enough stink was raised the legislation changed it.

However we can see just how easy it is for the gub'ment to do such things. Now its law that certain transactions can't be cash. Next step in a few years well we need to add electronic goods cause they get stolen often. Then they add appliances and so on and so on and slowly cash for used stuff is no longer legal so you might as well buy used and pay them taxes!

The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.

It must be ‘for the children’ or something, it’s that stupid. Or maybe it’s not stupid and it is to impose iron-clad Gummint Control over the population.

When there’s no cash, then everyone must have a bank account. If everyone has a bank account, then the government can always seize that account or block any transactions to that account. This is one of those “sounds convenient” ideas that could easily turn to tyranny in the hands of a despot.
