I have a son in Cub Scouts and don't agree with Gates. And if the Boy Scouts do allow religious groups to exclude gays from leadership positions, that won't satisfy the homosexuals either.

How did an unhealthy lifestyle attain such political dominance? I don't get it.

Some constituents have more influence in politics, business and academia than other constituents. As the economic situation continues to change, the influence gap is widening. The more influential constituents, for the most part, are not socially conservative.

My thoughts, first, the sexual revolution of the 60’s gave birth to a culture that embraced the idea that sexual intercourse was first and foremost for pleasure with pregnancy a consequence to be mostly avoided...once it became acceptable to have sex outside of marriage, all pleasurable perversions became acceptable.

Second, Western culture has lost its sense of sin. The numbers of people in Western society who attend church service regularly is abysmally small. Ask people to name and explain the 10 commandments and you would be horrified. In it’s place we have moral relativism which makes everything acceptable depending on your point of view.

Finally, there is always a sense of pleasure in the taboo... as everything sexual becomes acceptable it requires a greater depravity to achieve the thrill associated with sexual deviancy and our downward, evil death wish continues.

They need to put an end to this blanket ban on pedophiles as well! Bring back all those leaders who molested children who have completed their jail sentences (and absolutely restore all those who never served a moment in jail but were accused (and the Boy Scouts paid out settlements for) of such crimes..), and end this national nightmare of keeping boys from properly learning the Boy Scout experience! Least that’s the only thing the 2% minority will accept.

I can’t believe how much impact the 2% have on the organization. End ALL corporate Boy Scouts offices, end any full time Council positions. Close all offices, revoke any retirement benefits, etc. The only things that should be left should be scout huts run by local troops and camps which are paid for by confederations of troops. END the entire money train from corporate America into the Boy Scouts where they can continue to withhold funds to ‘pressure for change.’

Because the national council is selling the Boy Scouts piece by piece to the 2%, and that is a national crime.

That's actually a great question. I've thought a lot about it myself. Does every stable/rich society inevitably plant the seeds of its own corruption and destruction? Is it some kind of large natural cycle for humanity?

I DO know, this whole gay thing is a fad. Other societies in history have gone through the same. It will pass when present conditions change. But doesn't mean things will be better either.

Maybe this will help with understanding. Many of the parents of children in the Boy Scouts, schools and other institutions are among administrators in the following and contributors to it (for example, campaign funds). Spoiled, pampered people are more susceptible to unnatural tendencies. Along the way, it's like a collective organism that has become infected by the voice$ (influence) piped into it.

I have two sons several years apart. The first went through cub scouts and about half way through boy scouts before he decided he was over it. My youngest is cub scout age and I would not think of allowing him to join the organization now.

There was a woman who was also a very wise and educated Freeper who'd lived near San Francisco. Long ago, she informed some of us that most people are presented with a false impression about homosexuals.

She said that homosexual men are more like the Cruella De Vil character of "101 Dalmations" than the comical representations that we've seen in entertainment. For example, a heterosexual (straight) man might not know why he was fired from his job or who was behind it (Cruella De Vil).

Boys tend to learn to play with things. Girls tend to learn to play with people, good girls doing so with a set of unwritten rules of altruistic conduct. Some homosexual men and feminist women manipulate people with a psychotic lack of consideration for anyone.
