The Islamic State terror group now controls over half of Syrian territory after seizing the village and archaeological site of Palmyra Thursday, activists monitoring Syria's civil war said.

Rami Abdurrahman of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told the Associated Press the extremists overran the archaeological site, just to the southwest of the modern settlement on Palmyra, shortly after midnight local time.

In Damascus, state TV acknowledged that pro-government forces had withdrawn from the town. A Facebook page close to ISIS published a statement Thursday, purportedly from the group, saying "the soldiers of the Islamic State" completed their control of Palmyra. The capture came after government forces collapsed, "leaving large numbers of dead whose bodies filled the streets," it said.

The Bible predicts that the fall of Syria, specifically Damascus, will be in a catastrophic event. The Western Powers believed they were choosing the lesser of two evils by siding with rebel groups in Syria, rather than the Iranian backed Assad. This decision has only destablized the region and allowed ISIS to become entrenched, making progress towards the capture of Damascus.

What will Assad do in his final moments? Will he unleash his chemical arsonnel? What will ISIS do when they control Damascus and its chemical weapons store? Will Israel bear the brunt of Assad's wrath? Will ISIS launch chemical weapons against Israel? Will Israel launch a preemptive nuclear strike to eliminate this threat?

The Bible prophet Isaiah foretold an amazing event. Damascus, the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world, would disappear in a moment being reduced to rubble. Isaiah seems to indicate that Israel will be blamed for the destruction drawing the ire of the entire world. This action prompts a large coalition of nations to move on Israel to resolve the situation (presumably Ezekiel 38).

Isaiah 17:1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap. 2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken : they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down , and none shall make them afraid . 3 The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts. 4 And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin , and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean . 5 And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim. 6 Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel. 7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker , and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel. 8 And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made , either the groves, or the images. 9 In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation. 10 Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips: 11 In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow , and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish : but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow. 12 Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters! 13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind. 14 And behold at eveningtide * trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.

What will Assad do in his final moments?

Fly to one of his estates in Switzerland or France, and enjoy his billions.

Just think about this:

Much of the entire mid-east mess we face today was precipitated by Sadaam Hussein’s 1990 invasion of Kuwait.

Gulf War 1 and Gulf War 2 could have been avoided if back in 1990, April Glaspie, US Ambassador to Iraq had told Saddam Hussein that if he invaded Kuwait the USA would kick his butt back to Iraq, destroy his military, bomb Iraq back into the stone age, and eventually kill his sons, capture him, and execute him by hanging.

Instead she lead him to believe the USA would not intervene if he went ahead with the invasion with this position statement:

“We have no opinion on your Arab-Arab conflicts, such as your dispute with Kuwait. Secretary Baker has directed me to emphasize the instruction, first given to Iraq in the 1960s, that the Kuwait issue is not associated with America.”

Much of the turmoil and violence of the past 25 years stems from the fallout over the invasion of Kuwaite.

How many hundreds of thousands (or millions) of lives were (and are being) lost, and how many billions (or trillions) of dollars have been spent because of her error in judgement in making such misleading remarks?
