Here’s an excerpt of the Cruz/Ryan op-ed, that I read on another site...
.
Ryan and Cruz argue the current version of fast track address those concerns.
[B]efore anything becomes law, Congress gets the final say. The Constitution vests all legislative power in Congress. So TPA makes it clear that Congressand only Congresscan change U.S. law. If the administration meets all the requirements, Congress will give the agreement an up-or-down vote. But if the administration fails, Congress can hit the brakes, cancel the vote and stop the agreement.
Trade-promotion authority will hold the administration accountable both to Congress and to the American people. Under TPA, any member of Congress will be able to read the negotiating text. Any member will be able to get a briefing from the U.S. trade representative’s office on the status of the negotiationsat any time. Any member will get to be a part of negotiating rounds. And most important, TPA will require the administration to post the full text of the agreement at least 60 days before completing the deal, so the American people can read it themselves.
Critics counter that Congress already has the power to reject deals and all Fast Track does is strip lawmakers of the ability to change the deal before passage.
What the editorial fails to point out is that while the Chinese government knows what is in the deal, the average American is considered unworthy of this knowledge. Think about that for a moment.
Also, given the proclivity of this Congress to sell our birthrights for a mess of pottage, this simply makes that sort of bad deal all the more easy to achieve. The filibuster has protected the American people from numerous bad political deals, but the Senate has decided its not needed in this case. Not only is it not needed in their view, they want to make sure and tie the hands of future senators as yet unelected. So if by some miracle we were to get better representation than we have at some time in the next 6 years (unlikely as that may be), this legislation makes it that much more difficult for that representation to put the brakes on a rotten deal.
Anyone who doubts Ted Cruz is no different from McConnell or McCain, should read the joint op-ed by him and Ryan.
No mention of the fact that TPA lowers the threshold for approval of an international treaty to 51 votes instead of the 67 votes called out in Article ii, Section ii, Clause 2 of the Constitution....and cedes the power of Congress to POTUS.
Where are those fervent advocates for Cruz who were convinced is was the "only true Conservative" in the race? Convinced he was the ultimate defender of the Constitution? After all, didn't he argue cases before the USSC? Wasn't Obaba a Constitutional Law Professor?
This trade bill will give Obama enough power to completely destroy the U.S. :proof pf this in links below;
This Obama fast track trade bill is the worst bill EVER. The links below prove that:
This TTP/TPA Obama trade deal is a trojan horse.Its disguised as free trade What It really allows is for Obama to flood the USA with an unlimited number of 3rd world immigrants ...
http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/immigration/item/20710-obama-gop-trade-scheme-includes-unrestricted-immigration
Its Obamatrade but also Obama Amnesty for the entire 3rd world.
This Fast track gives Obama power to make treaties that override U.S. laws. Soros wrote a book on how to do this. So these conservative Senators are voting to give Obama power to rewrite all U.S. laws because treaties override U.S. laws. Its the destruction of the republic. Proof here :
