ISIS rises, the economy falters, and Obama’s legacy falls apart

Deep into the seventh year of his tenure, Barack Obama is thinking about his post-presidential legacy. We know this because he’s telling us so.

In an interview this week with The Atlantic about the potential deal with Iran regarding its nuclear program, the president sought to use the fact of his relative youth and his consciousness about how history might judge him to his advantage: “Look, 20 years from now, I’m still going to be around, God willing. If Iran has a nuclear weapon, it’s my name on this. I think it’s fair to say that in addition to our profound national-security interests, I have a personal interest in locking this down.”

In one sense, this is what we want presidents to worry about. We want them to be restrained by the cautionary examples provided by history and by the fact that history will judge them.

His deputy national security adviser, Ben Rhodes, put it this way last year to a roomful of liberal activists when talking about the initial November 2013 agreement to begin talking about Iran’s nuclear program: “Bottom line is, this is the best opportunity we’ve had to resolve the Iranian issue diplomatically…This is probably the biggest thing President Obama will do in his second term on foreign policy. This is health care for us, just to put it in context.”

And we all know how well that turned out.

Obama's legacy seems to be growing racial conflict. I sense America is being moved deliberately in the wrong direction. I hear no real attempts at peacemaking from the Obama administration or its friends. What is going on here?

I found it strange that during the racial conflict that happened in Baltimore there were several hours of discussion between the President and the mayor. No further information came out about it nor was there a denial.

I wouldn’t even care what happened to their neighborhoods if they were stopped from getting freebies and didn’t vote 19 to 1 for the Democrat president. That’s their job. One day every 1460 days to show up and vote for freebies.

If ISIS decides it wants a nuclear bomb, it can probably secure one sooner than Iran.

In fact, the way things are going for ISIS, it will probably be able to conquer Iran and take over all of its nuclear facilities in a matter of months.

But why would ISIS want a nuclear bomb? What fun would that be? The type of maniacs who join ISIS join in order to cut off people’s heads, rape innocent women, and drive car bombs into buildings — not to push a button that would destroy a city. You can’t murder and rape ashes.

Instead of obsessing about himself and what might happen to his reputation twenty years from now, Obama should be obsessing about what he can do to stop ISIS now. But that would be completely contrary to his nature.
