Video at the link.
Cool. But the drone needs a gimbal for the camera.
Excellent flight and video!
What model quad is it? I have a small Hubsan with can but am terrible at flying it.
My youngest son has a Syma 5xc (?), flys it very well and gets decent vids.
I have no clue. Just reading the news from back home and saw this.
It is cool that y’all have drones. I have been thinking about getting one. Any advise?
Looks and sounds like a DJI Phantom I. I have the same one and get similar vids. Here’s one I shot at the Central TX Air Show earlier this month:

Quadcopter 101 channel has lots of great advice and videos.
The link above is to his review of the Syma. It is why I bought one for my son.
And yes even I and Mrs p6 can fly it.
It cost around $60 on Amazon.
There are new quads that have new features like return to home and for the same or lower price.
I stash away from first person view quads.
My wife bought me 2 for Christmas. The Syma X5C and the DJI Phantom I. The Syma was to learn to fly with before I was allowed to take the DJI out of the box.
I’m glad she did that. It took some effort to learn with the Syma but I got the concept down a lot better. Just about anyone can take the DJI out of the box and fly it the 1st time. You simply let go of the sticks and they return to center and the quad will go into a hover and if you lose the signal or lose sight of it you can turn the controller off and it will return to it’s start point.
The X5C you have to work to get to hover and the controls are very tight so a small twitch will send it whichever direction you twitched.

The phantom is one I am thinking about, or maybe a tarantula. Quadcopter just posted a video of a new quad that I like but forget the name. It’s sort of headless and has FPV but those features don’t attract me. It seems to have great range, stability and a decent camera.
Until I get better at flying no more small quads like the Hubsan. Too fast and sensitive for these old skills!
I’m saving up for a Phantom II. They’ve come down in price quite a bit and I like fact that they have a built in gimble. The other option is to get an add on gimble for mine but the II has longer battery life.
I was dead set against getting one of these until I decided it was a good way to get attention for our military vehicle club. I can get footage at some of the shows we do and then present them to kids in schools and maybe get them interested in REAL historoy.
You should have taken it over to the spillway on the South side of White Rock on Garland road.
Nice video, good job.
Is that over Northwest Highway?
Thanks a lot now I’m searching ebay and amazon. :)
Thank you very much!
