Someone’s gotta be lying.
So, according to the writer, if you don’t support this bill you’re an isolationist.
Nuts.
Call me ignorant, i don’t care, call me a protectionist, I don’t care.
I believe in free trade... ONLY Between countries that have the following THREE things in common: Economic Development Level, Social/cultural Development level, and Personal Freedom/liberty level.
We CAN trade Freely with countries like Canada. the UK, Japan, South Korea, and Israel.
We CANNOT trade freely with countries like China, India, Russia, and Saudi Arabia.
Nope. He is 100% wrong.
While I think Congressional oversight is a good thing, I would like to see the exemption removed for insider trading. Possessing knowledge of how a trade deal is going to affect individual companies before that information is made public will have the potential to be lucrative.
Our trade problems are local, not foreign.
If we want to bring jobs to America we need to deal with the tax and regulatory problems.
What exactly is TPA or fast track?
How would this guy know? The trade bill is SECRET.
If it,was such a good deal for us, there would be no need for it to be secret.
The responses from the author to all the usual questions and comments posted following the text of the article are outstanding. It’s apparent the author is well informed on the text of the legislation and I recommend reading all the responses.
I’m for Ted....but....
Sen. Sessions Myth Busts TPA
>http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/05/20/sen-sessions-myth-busts-obama-trade-effort/<
Myth: Trade agreements implemented under fast-track will not supersede existing U.S. law.
It is the Secrecy.
Given Obama’s track record, I have issues with anyone voting for this legislation clouded in secrecy and saying ‘trust me.’
God only knows the deals made to ensure passage.
read the truth about this Trojan Horse and the Traitor Cruz and the rest of the senate know it.
Its an secret Treaty that let's Soros puppets unlimited power to ram thru never ending mass slave labor and to ship white collar jobs overseas.
http://netrightdaily.com/2015/04/14-things-you-have-to-know-about-fast-track/
The fact Cruz had the nerve to call this a free trade bills tells us he can lie just like Mitch.
TPP was cooked up by Soros to circumvent US laws and to make the US a mass immigrant hell like England thru fast track open ended treaties alowing mass overseas piling into our shores . Soros wrote a globalization book about it ! The utter nonsense he spit out out amending the bill was odd since fast track made amendments illegal .
So why did Cruz put out that bold faced lie . Only Gov Jindal is against the utter dangerous TPP.
There may be good reasons to support the legislation, but the article contains no examples.
So politicians like Hillary can continue to sell access and rake in the corporate and foreign cash
We’re in the spin phase of the political cycle now.
A few quick points:
-Ted Cruz was aware of significant and vociferous opposition from the conservative base on this bill. Yet he chose to both vote for it and flack for it. With Paul Ryan no less.
-Like most bills, the devil is in the details. We can’t see the details of the TPP. But we do know some of the details of the TPA and several of those act our detriment. Supporters of TPA are quick to note that a majority of Congress must vote on any trade agreement. So what? What is so important about these trade bills that they be excluded from the same scrutiny as any other bill? Now I realize that in the long run caesar gets whatever caesar wants. But why should we make it any easier?
-From a conservative perspective, how does it make sense to give this or any other president any more power than he currently has? conservatism and giving the president more power are not ideas that mesh.
In sum, this is another NAFTA. If you’re a globalist and think NAFTA was a great thing, you’ll love this. If you’re in the middle or working class, you’re about to get screwed.
What has Ted Cruz said about Ted Cruz’s opinion of the TPA? I would like to think that Ted Cruz has a good reason to support the TPA.
However, the article doesn’t explain this. The author uses Cruz’s name to promote the author’s opinion of the legislation. It is a bit underhanded of the author to do this.
bkmk
By the way I do not support free trade agreements for the following reasons. Free trade has a negative effect on our trade deficit. Following passage of NAFTA in 1994 our trade deficit with Mexico and Canada exploded as shown by the below statistics.
http://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/balance/c2010.html
http://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/balance/c1220.html
While I cannot PROVE that free trade effects US jobs (this is still open to debate depending on what set of statistics you use) it is highly logical that the effect is negative. Why would manufacturers choose to maintain operations in countries with higher costs due to wages and regulation when there is no import penalty? (I agree that our government over-regulates although that is separate to this debate) This view is supported by the lack of nominal wage growth and shift in jobs from manufacturing to lower paying service jobs.
Ultimately free trade is a gift to the corporations (who have lobbied for and whos representatives are currently involved in the negotiations) at the expense of people who are simply trying to find a decent job to support their family. If you are in this category it is not in your best interest. If however your standard of living is not attributed to earned income but rather dividends or investments it would make sense to support it.
Has Cruz read the TPA? or is he basing his support on what he thinks the TPA is???
