Do not tell me I am way off. You are dead wrong. I speak with physicians almost daily. They all are required to do data entry. If your wife works in a practice that does not include government insured patients she is blessed.

A private company in Georgia has all of my health info.

HIPPA is a farce. I went into the emergency room for a kidney stone, they gave me an abdominal ultrasound, charged me $2500 and sent me home. About a month later I started getting "Expectant Mother" magazines. What the heck, I thought.

Then it occurred to me - who gets abdominal ultrasounds? Expectant women!

So much for "privacy". It's a joke.

It still amounts to loads and loads of paperwork. I am so glad that I am retired. And with all this PC crap especially in the military hospitals, I probably would have been fired. I was reading on World Net Daily, that even if you keep a very low profile about homosexuality, and say nothing, to the PC police, by not saying anything, you are saying too much against homosexuals. GOD help this country. Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, or Romans 1:20....Professing to be wise they became fools.

You’re welcome. I really don’t understand why more people don’t take advantage of this option. Most who are doing obamacare have huge deductibles anyway and will have to pay full price for many of these procedures. Plus you get next day(or same day)appointments, very timely communication directly with the doctor, etc.

An important thing also, and this is intangible maybe(maybe not), is that we are not dealing with someone who is stressed to the point of suicide in his care for us. That just really broke my heart to think about, and that person would not be likely to be making the best decisions on your behalf, either.

My GP told me that she had to enter the data. No one else is allowed to enter patient data!

The government denies that it is forcing anybody to do anything. The doctors are free to choose another vocation.

As long as insurance companies are involved and as long as doctors may be sued, documentation will exist.

That said, there are good computer programs and bad computer programs.

My brother is a physician in a city of about 25,000. In his practice he interacts with a local clinic and with a nearby mega clinic. The computer system at the mega clinic was no doubt expensive to buy, but it is a joy to work with. The local computer system? My brother is seriously threatening to quit over having to use it.

The physician is the only person allowed to enter data in a patient’s online record.

I don't think that's quite right. Scribes can enter data, for instance the doctor's narration of the patient interaction, and there are a number of firms offering that service now.

What they can't do is enter medical orders. That requires a licensed medical professional. In theory, MAs who have received a certification could enter orders, but many MA programs don't offer formal certification.

You should talk to physicians in FL. According to you they are misinformed about government regulations controlling their record keeping.
