Indicted former House Speaker Dennis Hastert was paying an individual from his past to conceal sexual misconduct, two federal law enforcement officials said Friday.

One of the officials, who would not speak publicly about the federal charges in Chicago, said “Individual A,” as the person is described in Thursday’s federal indictment, was a man and that the alleged misconduct was unrelated to Hastert’s tenure in Congress. The actions date to Hastert’s time as a Yorkville, Ill., high school wrestling coach and teacher, the official said.

This is what I was afraid of. Unless their are pictures, he should’ve just let it go public and denied it. It’s been 35 years after all. I guess that’s what you get for having a conscience. He could learn something from the Clintons.

Hastert was your typical establishment RINO. Chances are that the inner good-ol’-boy circle already knew about this. That’s how corrupt that cabal has gotten.

the alleged misconduct was unrelated to Hastert’s tenure in Congress

How do we know he wasn't bribed while in office??? and then he passed leftist legislation, folded like a cheap tent, hurt the party etc.

“It has nothing to do with public corruption or a corruption scandal. Or to his time in office.”

Doesn't it? How long has he had to cover it up? How many times has he been compromised in his official capacity? His tenure as Speaker of the House came after the incident in question... and that office is third to the President in power and authority.

“I’m going to meet the Democratic caucus halfway,” Hastert promised last night ... And while colleagues joked that Gingrich’s worst enemy was his own mouth, Hastert is more likely to mumble a mild reply to a question and is reluctant to sound off on controversial issues.

The democRATs got rid of Newt (via their friends in the gOpE)to replace him with a guy they knew they could control through blackmail.

If he hustled out of office in 2007, was there a blackmail issue going on that started the payments in that timeframe?

Shouldn’t the Democrats be supporting Hastert’s “alternative lifestyle?” Looks like the DOJ is engaged in a hate crime against a homo.

Hastert was about as big of a corrupt POS as Boehner, willing to bet the blackmail and reasons for blackmail didn't stop once he left high school "coaching".
