St. Paul schools putting free meals on wheels

Parked among the Sassy Spoons and Foxy Falafels on St. Paul streets this summer will be a food truck featuring a decidedly untrendy cuisine: school lunch. Turkey sandwiches and raw vegetables will have one advantage over grass-fed burgers and fries cooked in duck fat, however: They're free. St. Paul Public Schools bought the food truck last year to increase participation in its Summer Food Service Program. It starts rolling out the meals June 15. The federally funded meals typically are served where children are likely to gather, such as libraries and community centers, as well as some schools, but many hungry kids don't make it to those locations. About 80 percent of St. Paul students eat school-prepared lunches during the school year, but only 20 percent take free summer meals, said Monica McNaughton, assistant director of nutrition services. About three in four St. Paul students qualify for free or reduced-price school lunches because of low family income. The summer meals are free for anyone younger than age 19.

As a kid, I never "gathered" near a library or community center. I suppose that was due to "white privilege."
More to the point - my parents made sure I had food in my stomach and clothes on my back - NOT the federal feckin' gubmint.

Similar story in today’s local paper (Kansas). Must be a nationwide push.

GMAFB. Are people not responsible for anything? Also, I wonder how many illegal dreamers who are actually grey haired will participate in this? Every day a new way to bankrupt this country and promote total dependency.

“The meals will be provided without regard to how the individual receiving the meal identifies.”

So if you’re a 25 year old illegal alien gangmember ,but idenity as an 18 year old American school kid, you’re OK.

This just more LIB/Lefty insanity wasting OPM (other people’s money) to advance their goal of complete societal dependency. How disgusting on many levels. LIBs/Lefties are insufferably malignant.

We already have the fattest poor people on the planet.

The Kleptocrats want to keep people poor and dependent on the government.

What ever happened to the notion that parents are supposed to provide food for their children?

The world sure has turned upside down since my parents raised 7 children.

“Similar story in today’s local paper (Kansas). Must be a nationwide push”

The “Community Organizations” running these ObamaFood summer lunch programs get paid by FedGov for each meal served.
No one comes in, they don’t get paid.

If the locals won’t waste their time coming to the park, school, or library, then they just drive around handing out free food now??

the problem is that democrats are getting lazier and lazier and might be too lazy leave their home to use their food stamps, and might starve to death.

Next to come will be a service to chew up the food for them first.

They are in for a rude awaking when the gravy train derails.

Either by crash or a conservative president.. the train will have to stop.

....fries cooked in duck fat....

Somebody tell me, please tell me, that the duck population of the world is not so large that we carnivorous humans have devalued their tallow and oils to the point it can become the cheap, low-bidder frying oil of preference.

Oh the humanity! These poor noble creatures reduced to junk food fry oil.

I'd much prefer this to be the idiotic rantings of an idiot bleeding heart. They can't even lie believably.

Well, it is free for the parasites. Oh, excuse me, I apologize....that was a thoughtless and inconsiderate statement. Because we know that parents are totally unable to feed their own children. We know this from the millions of kids who starved to death before the start of these “free” meals on wheels. (snicker)

"nationwide push"

Yes. Even in my area, where many of the kids are little chubbos, they've convinced many people that the little larda..es will starve unless the schools feed them during the summer. National insanity.

Stories like this lead me towards the conclusion that voting is pointless. We’ve had a majority republican House for over four years and this is the result? Meh.
