JOHANNESBURG -- A lion killed an American woman and injured a man driving through a private wildlife park in Johannesburg on Monday, a park official said.
The attack occurred at around 2:30 p.m. when a lioness approached the passenger side of the vehicle as the woman took photos and then lunged, said Scott Simpson, assistant operations manager at the Lion Park.
"They had their windows all the way down, which is strictly against policy," he said. "The lion bit the lady through the window." The driver then tried to punch the lion and was scratched by the animal.
Park staff quickly chased the lion away from the car and an ambulance arrived promptly. "Unfortunately, she did pass away," said Simpson, adding that the U.S. Embassy had been informed.

There is no cure for stupidity. (Probably an 0bama voter)
Every step you take is a risk and you’re going to die anyway. There’s no such thing as safety in this life.
They don’t think it’s all rainbows. People just choose to accept greater risk for greater action and adventure. Sh** happens but it’ll happen to you eventually no-matter what.
I prefer to take more chances and risk sudden death rather than slowly die in a bed suffocating on my own fluids.
Apparently bears do not have the patience that your dog does at dinner time. They see the bag of bread they want the whole bag. :-)
AKA ‘The Food Chain’...............
For starters I wouldn’t go near any park where man killing/eating animals are walking freely unless I’m in an assault vehicle or in a tour vehicle that is reinforced, but certainly not in a regular passenger vehicle. Going to the zoo where these animals are caged or in an enclosure is as close as I want to get to these animals.
Entirely too many people (idiots) think Disney movies are nature documentaries. Animals (including your pet dog) are NOT furry people and cannot be reasoned with nor can their behavior be fully predicted. That’s partially why I gag when I see some nitwit (like my neighbor) holding a conversation with her dog. “Now don’t you do (whatever).” The dog doesn’t understand words. They can understand pain/reward to be conditioned to do or not do things (sometimes), but you can’t convince them to do something by reasoning with them.
pretty sure that’s urban legend material. try and find an authentic news source for that kind of incident.
One time when I was on safari, a liberal woman in the group decided to help wash the dishes in the river. She didn’t like “exploiting” the staff (even though the staff was well paid - and well trained - to do the work). So, despite admonitions to the contrary, she went down to the river and put her plate in the water and scrubbed it with a sponge and a crocodile exploded up from the shallows and tore her arm off.

Don’t open the window!
Shades of Cleveland Amory...
I rolled the windows down both times to take a picture, but I remember thinking a bear can move real fast. I didn't get out of the car, and I kept it running. Nothing happened, but you can't be too careful around wild, dangerous critters.
Look for lion selfless on Instagram. (”Here’s me, Madge and the kids scaring a bunch of tourists.”)
Thanks for the laugh.

Are there lions in "Bambi"? I've never seen the movie. I have read the book by Felix Salten (translated by Whittaker Chambers) and don't recall any lions.
Bambi, the original 1929 book, is a beautifully written story, but is often brutal. I love Disney’s movie, but it took so much away from an often realistic book. Salten did a great job.
