South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham announced Monday that he is seeking the GOP nomination for president.
Graham, who told CNN last month he's been "more right than wrong on foreign policy," announced his presidential bid in his hometown of Central, South Carolina, on Monday. He hopes that his track record on foreign affairs will give him the advantage in a wide-open primary fight.
"I want to be President to defeat the enemies trying to kill us, not just penalize them or criticize them or contain them, but defeat them," he said at his kickoff event.
The timing could not be better for Graham, a national security hawk announcing his candidacy on the day a key provision of the Patriot Act expired in large part because of Sen. Rand Paul, another Republican running for president. He becomes the 9th Republican to enter the field.
Paul and Graham are foils in their party and represent an internal struggle for the soul of the GOP.
But Graham still barely registers in the polls. A Quinnipiac University survey out last week gave him 1%, and he did just 1% better than that in an April CNN/ORC nationwide poll.

Another loser in the mix.
It will be noteworthy just how many locations outside of SC Linseed will campaign for President of the United States of
America with honors SIR!
(In it just to muddy the waters in SC for any true conservative.)
Why all the male supporters and no women at his announcement?
” [Watch Video]”
Sorry, there is a great section of paint on my house that is starting to peel and I find watching it a lot more exciting.
He may only poll 1% or 2%, but if he takes those votes from Jeb Bush and helps us to elect a conservative, I will (for the first time in my life) praise an Amnesty supporter like Lindsey Graham.
John McCain is his biggest supporter.
Talk Show Host Mark Levin calls them same-sex Senators. LOL :)
A very weird-looking announcement with a strange Southern gay lisp.
Would like to get a second opinion about this post, Pollster1.

I see this doing a couple of opposite things....first, it may in fact take a few votes in SC from Jeb - second, he will peel off some conservatives - those not paying a lot of attention and who will vote for the SC boy - and the hope is that this will make sure someone like Cruz doesn’t come out of SC with momentum - heading into Florida.
that’s one of this constituencies...the blue haired old ladies who like Lindsey - because he reminds them of their hairdressers....
LOL
the sad part is....it is true. The old gals love them some lindsey......
Fabulous!
Unfortunately in Texas they love them John Cornyn’s and Jeb Bush’s too.
do his wife and children support his campaign?
Oh Lordy,
Is Lindsey Graham, Jeb Bush, Hillary Clinton, the best we can do?
What trash.
Go Walker, Go Cruz,
yeah, and I think he will end up hurting Jeb more than anyone - but that’s not why he’s in the race. It will be interesting to see how he campaigns - that will tell a lot.
The hairdresser vote is what it is.
I watched and listened to his announcement on Fox news, and by the sound of the applause he got from the people around him, there couldn’t have been more than 50 people there
