State to contribute up to $80 million to Milwaukee arena

"The price of doing nothing is not zero," Gov. Scott Walker said during a Thursday news conference. He said doing nothing would cost the state at least $419 million.

Walker said the state's return on the investment into a stadium for the Milwaukee Bucks would be three to one. He said the plan includes "clawback provisions" in case the Bucks would leave Milwaukee.

"People should be sure to kick the tires on this deal," said Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele. "The potential upside is larger than ever."

He is dead to me. Taxing the public to pay sports franchises is beyond the pale.

Local governments and the Wisconsin Center District will pick up the remainder of the cost.

Which means it will be the TAXPAYERS who will pay 250 million dollars to build the stadium, the 'State' earns nothing, but we all know that. Why can't these teams pay for their new digs? Let their league come up with the dough. It's always the taxpayers getting stuck with the bills for everything these damn politicians come up with. It grows older by the day.

Yup. Seems like a perfect voluntary crowd funding operation. Money is taken from me to support something I would never spend my own money on. "When you take from Peter and give to Paul you will always have Paul's support."

I can remember living in Wisconsin and the Southeastern Counties were assessed an additional tax for the Miller Park (Brewers stadium). More taxes for sports complx. till this day I have never even been to the Brewers Stadium even though I paid plenty of taxes for the place!

Same with the Packers and the Brown County area...the more local the assessment the less problem I have with it.

Especially for the owners of the Bucks.

Let them TAX the cash from all the overpaid and underworked players, they’re the ones the facilities are for in the first place! HA! Let’s listen to them scream...

He is dead to me.

He's not dead to me. But he is making it clear that he's a pretty typical border-line establishment Republican candidate.

The following is a statement I made on another thread recently that pertains and I can easily copy:
I’ve always felt that Walker was more of a political animal than a conservative ideologue. I’ve never met the man. The left-controlled media tells me most of what I hear about the him. I offered my armed support to him during the recalls when the police unions appeared to attack. I’m happy that he has been our Governor. Ted Cruz is my man...VP should be either Sarah Palin or Ted Nugent. :{)

This is a horrible looting of taxpayers to gift a stadium to the wealthy

The income taxes sent directly to the state for NBA play in the state far exceed the states contribution
