Jack Kelly: Spare us from Obamacare
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ^ | June 7, 2015 | By Jack Kelly

The Affordable Care Act isn’t.

Some major health insurers seek eye popping rate increases for 2016 — such as 25 percent in Oregon, 30.4 percent in Maryland, 36.3 percent in Tennessee, 51.6 percent in New Mexico.

Despite subsidies for the industry of at least $16 billion, many insurers lose money. Far fewer individuals signed up for Obamacare than expected (and the administration claimed). Those who did are older and sicker.

“Only about 40 percent of those eligible eventually signed up after two full open-enrollments,” insurance expert Robert Laszewski told the Washington Examiner. “Carriers need more like 75 percent.”

Subsidies for insurance companies mask the true cost, said Stephen Parente, director of the Medical Industry Leadership Institute. Unless reauthorized in 2017, premiums for the cheapest plan could rise nearly 100 percent for individuals, 50 percent for families, he said.

That’s on top of sky-high deductibles. The average deductible for the cheapest Obamacare plan is about $5,180 for individuals, $10,500 for families — four times the IRS threshhold for a “high deductible” plan.

As premiums and deductibles rise, and the job-killing employer mandate goes into effect, a “death spiral” — begun because so few healthy people have signed up — will accelerate. If the Supreme Court rules the ACA must be enforced as written, it would be a mercy killing.

Good I hope they fail. Maybe the next generation of insurance
companies wont be so willing to jump on the mandate bandwagon. Nothing makes a corporation drool more than a
government mandate for their product. They took the bait,
they got caught, now they will be untitled to a bailout.
Another thing you can thank GM, GE and all the other too
big to fail mismanaged corporations. In the long run we are
all going to pay for this ignorance.

I think catastrophic was about half of what an unsubsidized bronze plan is today.

Obamacare never was abouting providing healthcare. It was about double taxing the hell out of every taxpayer under the guise of providing healthcare and setting up a citizen data repository for the coming NWO Soros is so dedicated to bringing about....

Unfortunately, the Republicans will likely delay the execution or commute it.

And.... Sen. Marco Rubio and his counsel REFUSED to file a lawsuit over the insurance bailout, which has already begun, and FORCES us to pay for it!

If you like you plan, you can keep your FReepin' plan.

A single visit to my primary care doctor that was due to me being sick (not related to a physical, those are free but the medical tests aren’t) cost me an eye popping $587 dollars. This is the in-network price but is applied to my new $6500 deductible.

That is only for the office visit.

Pre-Obamacare was $156 at my former primary care doctor who retired due to Obamacare.

With the increased prices to get medical services, I might just reach my deductible. So I can see why they are having to jack rates, since these high deductibles are supposed to only be reached for catastrophic medical expenses.

Correct. Nationalized Health Care is on the horizon.....it guarantees that the Government WILL have CONTROL over our lives and our health information. This country is on the fast elevator to the basement.

Obamacare (I will NOT call it the ACA) is doing exactly what it is designed to do, harming the insurance industry to the point where they will quit offering policies that lose money. Then government will step in as the single payer that the commie b@$t@rd$ wanted all along.
