The hate on this family is disgusting. It is said that it is because they are hypocrites. All 21 members are hypocrites and deserve to be hated? Really? Besides having Christian views, and having a juvenile son who made a youthful mistake, I am not quite sure that the revulsion from many is anywhere near close to reasonable. That is why I am calling it hate. Do you hate the really young ones too? There are even many despicable comments from freepers on this site. Frankly, I am reevaluating participating on Free Republic if hate and Chtistian bigotry are here.

He was already caught 12 years ago when he was sent away and his parents got him counseling, his sisters counseling, and contacted authorities. The authorities investigated again 4 years later and could not find any evidence he was a danger to his family or was still doing it. The only thing that happened was that it was exposed. I am only trying to point out that part of the reason behind the exposure of this was because the Duggars are conservative Christians.

I don’t consider molesting multiple sisters a mistake. Its not hate to hold Christians accountable when they err. Yes God forgives one of sin that doesn’t mean one escapes paying a price for that sin.

Michelle Duggar making a robocall arguing against transgenders in the bathrooms really set her and her partner off. They organized a gay "kiss in" in front of the Duggars home. She is very proud of herself, and here is a link to her claiming credit for the In Touch story:

Something tells me that a Muslim country wouldn't have to put up with these people doing stuff like that.

It was in the Brit DAILY MAIL last week, about the lesbian, who is retiring this year and she stated that she had a few things to “DO” before she left office....which she sort of stated as a slightly veiled threat to her “enemies”.

He was held accountable, though. What do you want done to him now? What price do you want him to pay?

I read last week - here at FR - that the Arkansas sheriff that illegaly leaked this story is a lesbian herself. No idea if its true. But it would give a reason as to why she did it.

If this is true, there needs to be a nuclear hammer of destruction unleashed upon her in the form of a civil lawsuit. Criminal as well, if possible, which I think may very well be.

Nothing was illegally leaked. The department responded to a public records request and was legally obligated to turn over the requested information.

From what I've read, it was all ordered destroyed. How do you provide something that isn't supposed to still exist?

Yes....her own sister, from the time she was an infant ( she examined her sister’s genitals and stuffed small rocks and gravel into it ) through some of her childhood. But her now adult sister is a lesbian, which she praises, so the lefties LOVE the fat, disgusting, uber lefty Lena.

This thread is my first foray into this topic, but I think you have the right of it. Certainly the vileness directed at these people is surprising. I certainly didn't expect it.

Libertarians. Quite a lot of them on this site. They suffer from the perpetual Libertarian problem; The inability to distinguish between "Liberty" and "License."

Read closer. The records held by the police were ordered destroyed after they were already turned over. A juvenile judge later ordered them destroyed but with no explanation as to why. Since the matter never reached a court, there is now the issue of whether the judge had the authority to order police to get rid of them.

If it was ok to release the info, then why did the judge last week destroy all the records for this case, preventing any further FOIA releases?

From what I understand, in most places (because both victims & abuser were under 18), nothing could be released-regardless of how old abuser was when the police were notified.

I’m not trying to argue; just sincerely curious. Laws can differ, of course, but most state laws regarding juvenile cases are pretty strict. I used to be a CASA volunteer, and there’s no way those records in those cases I was on could legally be released, whether or not they were sealed, and regardless of FOIA or not. Again, just curious.

You say "Molesting" as if to imply intercourse, but my understanding is that he touched them while they were asleep. Yes, that's bad, but it is not in the same league as Lenna Dunham repeatedly diddling around with her little sister.

No he wasn’t held accountable now he is.

I care more about protecting children from a child molester. Don’t care if the molester or his parents are Christians. So many children become victims of child molesters because the parents forgive the molester who is family.

I think it is a courtesy for a Judge to explain his order, not a requirement. I think if they had such an order from a Judge, they needed to comply with it. I can think of all sorts of conditions under which a Judge would have no interest in explaining the reasons for his order, especially as relates to juvenile incidents.

I think the thinking in most states is that it is wrong to saddle an adult with a permanent stain regarding things he may have done before he knew better. Juveniles are presumed not responsible for themselves until they reach the age of maturity.

Most of these state laws are designed to protect people from exactly what has now happened to Josh Duggar. He will now suffer incalculable damage plus loss of income, etc. for something he did when he was very young.

I see him as having a cause of action against everybody involved in this, and I hope he sues them into bankruptcy, and most especially any governmental authorities that collaborated in releasing obviously salacious details of a matter which occurred while he was a juvenile.

That's a good question. Since the matter never reached a court, what authority does the/any judge have to order the records destroyed? The judge refuses to say why the order was issued.

From what I understand, in most places (because both victims & abuser were under 18), nothing could be released-regardless of how old abuser was when the police were notified.

"In most places" might be correct. But public records laws differ from state-to-state. In Arkansas, apparently these particular records can be released because Josh was an adult when his perversion came to light.

Laws can differ, of course, but most state laws regarding juvenile cases are pretty strict.

Indeed. Juvenile court cases. This matter never went to court so controlling law is whatever laws apply to the release of police records. Names & pronouns were redacted, as is required under Arkansas law.
