Republicans in the House are saying that they are confident they have the votes to deliver Fast Track trade authority to the president when a vote is held sometime later this week.
But outside observers say that the issue is still very much in doubt, and that a coalition of protectionist Republicans, libertarians, and far-left liberal Democrats may yet prevent the measure from passing.
Politico:
Congressional sources estimate the pool of undecided members at just over a dozen lawmakers mostly Democrats torn between supporting Obamas quest for a historic Pacific Rim trade deal and traditional party backers like labor unions, who have turned the TPA vote into a litmus test for deciding whether to support incumbents heading into 2016.
Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Wisconsin Rep. Ron Kind, the lead Democrat whipping for the legislation, need at least 217 members to support the deal for it to pass, though congressional sources say both sides want 220 to 225 yes votes lined up to avoid the possibility that any one lawmaker could be tagged with casting the deciding vote. So far, more than 18 Democrats have publicly committed to supporting the legislation.

Didn't Cruz vote for it in the Senate? Why are we against it in the House?
Pro-America reps will vote against it until a job impact study reveals who benefits other than Wall Street. Pro-World Reps will continue to sell out American industry.
Let’s all line up to give Barack HUSSEIN Obama Soetoro dictatorial power over international relations.
Funny, don’t recall Boner and Ditch running on that a few months back.
“Didn’t Cruz vote for it in the Senate? Why are we against it in the House?”
Cruz voted for TPA, trade promotion authority. And he did so because he wants to be president and wants the same leverage Obama wants over the congress, the authority to negotiate deals without the input of the Congress.
Cruz is naïve. Because once TPA is passed, then TPP (the actual deal) will be rammed through, will all sorts of odious provisions, that the congress will be unable to amend, thanks to TPA.
Just because Cruz votes FOR something doesn’t mean it’s a good thing!
Do not vote ANYTHING for the O-man. Do not give him anything he wants. What is wrong with them?
Obamatrade is something to destroy the GOP and get Dems elected and then the whole pile of crap starts all over again , LOL
I’ve been seeing and hearing pro-TPA commercials lately. Good sign?

So Cruz can get the changes he wants to the Senate version. Here’s hoping that the despicable, in-the-pocket-of-the-lobbyists Boehner and his lacks can’t pull this one off.
This is not a nail biter. Whoever said that is selling Kool-Aid. Signed, sealed, and delivered for the real beneficiaries of American Government, not us.
What is wrong with all you Congress critters? Go ahead an pass it. You have to pass it to find out what’s in it. That’s the Pelosi way. Can’t you trust Nancy Pelosi and your President? I mean, hell, look how well Obamacare worked out for us.
Just because Cruz votes FOR something doesnt mean its a good thing!

I was disappointed that Cruz voted for it. But, that’s the only “black mark” on his resume at this time. I’m still for him, but I’m very disappointed.
All of his amendments were defeated. Him and CFR wife are having a good laugh though at the rubes.

You may want to rethink just who the “rubes” are. You do realize that if the Boehner version is defeated the Senate version is essentially dead. If “they” (Boehner, McConnell, etc.) then still want trade deal legislation, the only way they would realistically get it then (by picking up rebellious conservative votes in the House) would be to amend it in the way that Cruz wanted.
Say hello to the other Rubes who lack understanding of what Cruz was attempting. He still may succeed...at least I hope so. The battles against the progressives is never-ending.
Ill keep calling & emailing.
It’ll pass, the commie is using his backroom strong arm tactics to get his latest Marxist utopian wetdream passed so he can take down the country for good. All with the help of the GOPe.
It seems he is having second thoughts. He came out against the TPP until a thorough reading can be had by legal consultants and congress. A day late and a dollar short IMHO, but at least a light bulb went off. On principle no secret legislation (aside from national security) shoul be considered ever. The government is owned by “we the people” ostensibly.
Republicans eager as always to cede their authority to the other side. Can’t wait to give Obama fast track authority. What’s wrong with that picture?
