Blow to Obama as public rejects his case for free trade just as Congress agrees to consider his request to negotiate 'secret' Pacific Rim pact
Judgement day is coming for President Barack Obama's Pacific Rim trade proposal, with Congress expected to vote Friday on the controversial measure that's sharply divided both major political parties.
The Democratic president and Republicans in charge of Congress have become strange bedfellows as they try to convince lawmakers on Capitol Hill to give the White House the ability to negotiate a 'secret' trade deal with 11 other nations.
The progressive wing of Obama's party fears the accord will be a job-killer for Americans, and they've vowed to vote no on the Trade Promotion Authority, TPA, legislation when it comes to the floor this week.
An NBC News poll released today found that two-thirds of Americans aren't buying what the president's selling, either, despite his aggressive posturing on the issue.

That's not a "case" for anything. It is an ultimatum.
No more secret laws!!! We need to get people who wants to bring the USA back from the edge. We - the citizens - need to see what we are paying for with our taxes. We don’t need a 1200 page law on how to reduce the government... We can do it with maybe 12 words: ‘Is this agency needed or should it be with the states.’ (wait I did it in 11 words!!)

Just this afternoon I read the Constitution and the Amendments from end to end.
Nowhere could I find anything about Congress voting on secret legislation.
Nowhere could I find anything about the President keeping legislation secret from the American people.
This secrecy crap has to stop.
Knowing nobama as we do, if he’s trying to keep it a secret, it must be really, really bad.
Public opinion matters? I think not.

This has nothing to do with “free trade” - which is why the agreement is being kept Secret. What is “free” about a bill that Congress will not be able to amend or even discuss, and which will be hidden from American citizens? How much more of its Constitutional powers will Congress cede to the Presidency? No more!
