All they had to do is donations only and they would have been ok. Probably would have made more money that way anyway. Let’s not get our panties in a wad over nothing.
In all due respect to you, I beg to differ. I don’t think this is much ado about nothing. Not at all.
It strikes to the heart of the freedom to pursue life, liberty, and happiness, and other Constitutionally protected liberties.
I am not blaming the police. If there’s a law prohibiting ‘peddling’ without a permit, then there’s a law. The blame goes to the city council or county government.
Government flunkie, right on cue...
Who seems to have gotten their panties in a wad, these people, or the government? Over a kids’ lemonade stand.
Yaknow, kids running lemonade stands may be TECHNICALLY illegal in most of the country, but MOST of the time cops aren’t petty little assholes about it, they’re professionals who successfully manage the power of discretion inherent in their civic authority and get on down the road; often with a cup of cold juice in-hand.
Failure of publicly-paid police to rise to that level of expected professional behavior is not “nothing”; it’s an egregious error in judgment made in the line of duty, and a hallmark of people who have NO business whatsoever being uniformed officers of the Law.
BS. I distinctly recall an America that never would have bend over for this kind of heavy handed government bull sh**.
The little kids should tell the cops to beat it and keep selling their lemonade. I'd love to see the additional avalanche of foul vile PR the cops and city get when they fine, jail or seize the kids money and lemonade.
The Texas lemonade standoff!! Against controlling punitive overreaching reckless government.
Of course they'd go after the parents and likely threaten to send in the Texas Child Protective Services Division to impound their kids until they comply.
Do it kids!
Our family was at an outdoor jazz concert in the park, held by the city every summer. A woman and her young daughter set down on a blanket near ours, with a huge ice chest and supplies. The young girl started walking among the crowds sitting on blankets, and sweetly asked if they would like some free lemonade, and they could donate if they wished. No one could resist her charm, and we as well as others donated far more than what a cup would normally cost. Little girl sold out quickly and made a fortune. All legal.
