Until NAFTA ‘fast track’ probably did more good than harm.
Since then nothing but loss seems to have come from it.

True, but I don’t know that we can wait for another Reagan to complete trade agreements.

As usual you have hit the nail on the head. While I am a free trade kind of old guy it is evident that our leaders negotiate as well as they enforce borders.

The data is clear. These agreements result in lower GDP, lower wages, higher trade deficits and vast increases in legal and illegal immigrants.

Fast track is neither unconstitutional or an inherently bad thing. Depends on the negotiator. The present negotiator needs to be given fast track authority like I need another 10 years added to my age.

So EVEN THOUGH the "ESTABLISHMENT REPUBLICANS" attached this UNPOPULAR BILL to another Bill titled "Defending Public Safety Employees' Retirement Act", hoping that Senators would FEAR

being RIDICULED for voting AGAINST "Public Safety"
and FEAR being RIDICULED for voting AGAINST a "RETIREMENT ACR",
TED CRUZ did NOT BACK DOWN, along with Collins (R-ME), Paul (R-KY), Sessions (R-AL), and Shelby (R-AL) !

You can scream it, shout it and write in big fonts but when it counted Ted Cruz was the biggest cheer leader for TPA and TPP in the Senate. He even wrote an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal urging passage of TPA and TPP. He only flip flopped on it when got a hurricane of blow back from the voters. His flip flop was the biggest since "read my lips" HW Bushs' flip flop on taxes.

Okay, FOR THE EXTREMELY DENSE WHO DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO RESEARCH ON TERMS:

The fast track authority for brokering trade agreements is
the authority of the President of the United States to negotiate international agreements
that Congress can approve or deny
but cannot amend or filibuster.
Renamed the trade promotion authority (TPA) in 2002,

fast track negotiating authority is an impermanent power granted by Congress to the President.
Fast track authority remained in effect from 1975 to 1994, pursuant to the Trade Act of 1974, and from 2002 to 2007 by the Trade Act of 2002.
Although it technically expired in July of 2007, it remained in effect for agreements that were already under negotiation until their passage in 2011.
The following year, the Obama administration sought renewal of TPA authority, and in June of 2015, it passed Congress and was signed into law by the President.
The approval of this TPA legislation conferred on the Obama administration
"enhanced power to negotiate major trade agreements with Asia and Europe."

Enough is enough. I cannot vote for TPA unless McConnell and Boehner both commit publicly to allow the Ex-Im Bank to expire - - and stay expired.
And, Congress must also pass the Cruz-Sessions amendments to TPA to ensure that no trade agreement can try to back-door changes to our immigration laws.
Otherwise, I will have no choice but to vote NO .

There's too much corporate welfare, too much cronyism and corrupt dealmaking, by the Washington cartel.
For too long, career politicians in both parties have supported government of the lobbyist, by the lobbyist, and for the lobbyist - - at the expense of the taxpayers.
It's a time for truth.
And a time to honor our commitments to the voters.
