Not the Onion: Obama Wants to “Diversify” America’s Wealthy Neighborhoods

Heading into the last quarter of Obama's presidency we heard time and time again that these two years would be the most dangerous for the Republic. His disdain for working with Congress, contempt for the Constitution, and propensity to act unilaterally would only be magnified in the remaining days of his term—after all, he’d go big because he’s going home.

Now that he's made everything from health care to immigration precipitously worse, next up on the list is an experiment in social engineering.

The Onion The Hill reports:

The Obama administration is moving forward with regulations designed to help diversify America’s wealthier neighborhoods, drawing fire from critics who decry the proposal as executive overreach in search of an “unrealistic utopia.”

A final Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) rule due out this month is aimed at ending decades of deep-rooted segregation around the country.

The regulations would use grant money as an incentive for communities to build affordable housing in more affluent areas while also taking steps to upgrade poorer areas with better schools, parks, libraries, grocery stores and transportation routes as part of a gentrification of those communities.

“HUD is working with communities across the country to fulfill the promise of equal opportunity for all,” a HUD spokeswoman said. “The proposed policy seeks to break down barriers to access to opportunity in communities supported by HUD funds.”

As you can imagine, the list of critics among conservatives is lengthy. Among them is Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), who’s at the forefront of an effort in the House to block the regulations.

“American citizens and communities should be free to choose where they would like to live and not be subject to federal neighborhood engineering at the behest of an overreaching federal government,” he said.

Critics of the rule say it would allow HUD to assert authority over local zoning laws. The agency could dictate what types of homes are built where and who can live in those homes, said Gosar, who believes local communities should make those decisions for themselves rather than relying on the federal government.

If enacted, the rule could depress property values as cheaper homes crop up in wealthy neighborhoods and raise taxes, Gosar warned.

It could also tilt the balance of political power as more minorities are funneled into Republican-leaning neighborhoods, he suggested.

But we were warned, right?

Some day, the rest of America will get fed up with this crap.

Won't do it without specifically addressing race. They use race as a battering ram and most whites still run away from it. They move their agenda using race. It can't be fought with out addressing it.

It IS about race.

“....especially in San Francisco.”

Usually I will defend California from blanket
attacks from fellow FReepers who appear to
lump we conservatives in with the whacko left
majority. But though I am a fan of Bay Area sports
teams I cringe when San Francisco libs brag about
being an economically successful liberal city. The
truth is they drive the poorest of the poor away
and support the rest. They deserve to be called out.

They tried this in Tulsa. It brought drugs and crime to a formerly nice area.

So every other group living in predominantly with their own is just fine, we have to go after whites.

There is no right to live where you want to live.

San Fransisco is Wealthy for the same reason that New York and Boston are Wealthy; Geography.

For some reason it appears to be human nature to give oneself credit for ones prosperity even though it is caused by other factors.

Any city built in an optimal location for a major transhipment port is destined to be wealthy. After that, Wealth Attracts Wealth. There is a sort of synergy that occurs when Wealthy people concentrate in an area.

Absolutely. Jorge Busho (and every other globalist liberal) destroyed America’s border and identity under the notion that he would be insulated from the impact in his compound/gated community. Move these third worlders into his house. Maybe our elected traitors might develop a conscience.

Wealty isnt obama’s neighborhood.
wealthy means middle class suburbs.

Why cant people live the way they want to? Government nees to be overthrown and dismantled, and rebuilt with the original intent again. Anyone forgets that and they’re gone.

This is designed to seed conservative house districts with democrats. The liberal house districts are safe. They will have enough growth from illegals to hold what they have plus encroach elsewhere. They need to completely take over. One could say they already have but.. no.. these people want to go way past RINO socialism lite stuff and start moving into communism. The conservative and RINO house members will be a continued nuisance unless they begin spreading more dems around.

These wealthier neighborhoods need to take a look at what Sunnyvale, Texas did when ordered to have affordable multi-family housing (read: apartments) built in their community. They ultimately re-zoned an area for just this purpose...across the 4 lane highway, in an industrial park, away from the rest of the long-time residents. This way the law enforcement officers could keep an eye on the apartment dwellers. As far as I know, the apartments have yet to be built. Since the city complied to the letter of the ruling, nothing else could be done.

Sunnyvale is in Dallas County and was order by some DemocRAT judge to allow multi-family housing. The city charter specifies single-family residences, on a minimum of one acre of land. This was done to keep the county feel of the small-city. Also as a beneficial side effect, the riff-raff is kept out due the financial considerations of the land costs. Some stupid builder wanted to put apartments in. The city charter said otherwise. Went to court and the looney judge along with some rabble rousers claimed Sunnyvale was doing this to keep minorities out. Total nonsense, BTW. Sunnyvale eventually stopped fighting in court, probably due to the excessive legal costs. This is a very small town without the deep pockets to continue a lengthy legal fight, I would assume.

How typical of the liberal way of thinking...”people should be able to live where they want to.” I’m trying to get my head around that. But like all liberal ideas, delving into that one might cause your head to explode. “People should be able to live where they want to.” And of course libs think that’s a perfectly rational statement.

Ha—if only all towns and cities had convenient four-lane highways and industrial parks.

It is about race, but probably more about money. As whites slowly disappear from the US, the infrastructures of the neighborhoods built with their tax dollars need to be maintained - but there is no remaining tax base to do so. Instead, the remaining people (mostly welfare populations) as well as the imported replacements will be apportioned out to those areas where taxpayers and companies can foot their bills.

Newark NJ is a prime example of this; they’ve laid off public employees (cops, teachers) because there is no money left to pay them. State and federal money has dried up, and there is nothing left to tap; the population must be shifted to the surrounding areas for these “services”. The problem is that the surrounding areas are de-populating of whites/taxpayers as well; they’ve been taxed to death and have moved on.

I recently saw a news story where Sussex County (probably one of the most conservative, rural, and poor counties in NJ, adjacent to both NY and PA), which for a time saw a boom in population as whites fled higher taxes in the eastern part of the state, now has to deal with unused government buildings as the decline spreads there. The whites that had been fleeing there are now either continuing on into PA or heading south to the Carolinas and such.

Without massive federal intervention, much of NJ will look like Mogadishu (with two populations - Americans on welfare and illegal aliens working for cash).

If 0bama and his regime can get property values to decline in wealthy neighborhoods, he can effectively cause macro deflation, and wealth distribution.

Scary stuff.

I think that it would be more effective if the Federal Govt. would attempt to diversify "poor" neighborhoods.

At least, it would reveal much more clearly and quickly how unjust any such attempt would be.

I knew it was coming. I am not surprised. This is one of his final “screw you America “ acts.

So now you had better not let your daughters walk home alone.
