New York (CNN)—Donald Trump is finally taking the plunge.

The real estate mogul and TV reality star launched his presidential campaign Tuesday, ending more than two decades of persistent flirtation with the idea of running for the Oval Office.

"So, ladies and gentlemen, I am officially running for president of the United States, and we are going to make our country great again," Trump told the crowd, in a lengthy and meandering speech that hit on his signature issues like currency manipulation from China and job creation, as well as taking shots at the president and his competitors on the Republican side.

I’ve had it with politicians. I will go for DT. He can’t be any worse than the rest of the field. Talking about lobbyists / Obamacare / common core / negotiators. I liked that.

I think it’s good that Trump entered the race. He may not win the nomination, but I think that he’s got a good message and it will keep the eventual nominee further to the right.

“At least he accurately described the current economic and health insurance picture. He is a breath of fresh air if nothing else.”

He doesn’t need a teleprompter to speak, and it hit everything that’s wrong with our country. Unlike a lot of people here, I am willing to wait and watch what he does. An arrogant, competent leader who has enough of his own money that he doesn’t have to kiss anyone’s ass is a good thing.

I’m with you, and it is evident he really doesn’t like Jebbie Bush and isn’t shy about it.

I am with you on that. I am looking at Carly Fiorina, Ben Carson, and now Donald Trump. I want a president that has actually done something other than talk, pose, and read off bullsh*t from a teleprompter.

Donald T probably has a snowballs chance in Hell of winning anything but his entry will expose the hypocrisy of both sides and I feel that is needed,BIG TIME!

Has Trump actually registered as an Independent? I don’t see that he’s registered as a Republican candidate either. Didn’t he renounce his Republican registration previously?

You have been duped.

When has fast track trade athority EVER even been an issue here or any other conservative message board?

This is not a new issue. Fast track has been around for decades and no one even cared.

This has been MADE to seem important, this whole thing is a setup. A created issue of no real importance whose sole purpose is for it to be used to attack Cruz and Cruz alone (while ignoring everyone else that supports it) and to splinter off conservative support for complete clowns like Trump.

quote “Carly Fiorina, Ben Carson, and now Donald Trump. I want a president that has actually done something”

lol

funny since you support the three candidates who have never achieved anything politically.

Jebthro runs as a moderate, Trump enters with an appeal to independents and blue collar voters...Result: do we get 8 years of Hillary Clinton?

It's obvious if Trump gets pushed aside by the Republicans and decides to go independent, welcome Hillary as president. Rush just said as much also.

Fast Track in the hands of Obama becomes a different story than ever before. NO to ANYTHING Obama wants and that goes for McConnell and Boehner as well.

Tell me what do politicians achieve other than enriching themselves? Who among the politicians running has achieved anything more than promote themselves and get elected? Fiorina, Carson, and Trump have actually had to produce something and answer to others. The people they have had to answer to are not subject to being conned and fooled like the American voters. Getting elected is hardly an achievement. Look at all the fools in Congress and tell me that they are achievers.

yep, exactly.

I can almost hear the RINO leadership sitting around a table some where..

What are we going to do about Cruz???!!!

This guy is the real deal! He actually BELIEVES this conservative stuff!

and he has the brains to defend his beliefs!

What the HECK are we going to do about him!

...

Random RINO speaks up...

hm... is there a single issue Cruz believes in that is liberal?

crowd... not really... he is pretty much a die hard far left true believer conservative.

ok... but on what issue is he furthest left?

um... I guess that would be free trade, in the past he has articulated some sympathy toward the principle of free trade and in particular giving president fast track authority to negotiate.

THAT”S IT !!!!

Here's the plan...... We make the upcoming vote on fast track which is usually rubber stamped by congress with nearly unanimous votes into a big issue. We turn this meaningless vote into the defining issue of this election and the litmus test of any true conservative. Then when Cruz comes out for it, we BLAST him (and only him since everyone else will be supporting it too) to drive a wedge between Cruz and his conservative base of support. Then we prop up a clown like Trump to be the Anti Fast Track Hero of the American worker as an alternative. The rubes of course will be too stupid to remember that Trump is a liberal and will thus succeed in pealing off a good chunk of Cruz's conservative base!

Woot ! great plan! Now someone call Trump and get him on board!

quote “Getting elected is hardly an achievement”

um..

Getting people to VOTE for you is of MASSIVE importance to winning.

It matters not what you have accomplished in life if no one likes you and no one will vote for you. A record of winning state wide elections proves you have the KEY ability.

At least he accurately described the current economic and health insurance picture.

Without a clue how to fix either one, regardless of his platitudes and his bluster.

If Cruz and Trump were giving a speech at the same time, who do you think would get highest ratings? Trump the “clown” or Cruz the h-1b prince?
