Ted Cruz Executes Epic Takedown of Anti-Israel Colleges… Reveals Plan That Terrifies Liberal Profs

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz has long been a champion of the nation of Israel, but at a recent conference, he made a bold political proposal that solidified his support of the Jewish state.

Speaking at the Champion of Jewish Values International Awards Gala, where he received the Defender of Israel Award, Cruz announced to the primarily Jewish crowd — which included at least one billionaire Jewish Republican with deep campaign-backing pockets — that he would call for the federal defunding of any colleges that boycott Israel.

Cruz was referring to the “Boycott, Divest, and Sanctions” movement, an attempt by liberal college professors and students to pressure Israel into changing its policies in Palestine by boycotting Israeli academics from speaking at their schools and pressuring schools to pull investments from Israeli companies.

“BDS is premised on a lie and it is anti-Semitism plain and simple. And we need a president of the United States who will stand up and say if a university in this country boycotts the nation of Israel, than that university will forfeit federal taxpayer dollars,” Cruz said.

The aforementioned billionaire, Sheldon Adelson, was sitting among the crowd and was so moved by Cruz’s speech that he joined the crowd in a standing ovation — something he rarely does due to limited mobility issues.

According to The Daily Caller, the BDS movement has had “limited success” and so far hasn’t received full support from any public college. However, at least one academic organization, the American Studies Association, joined the cause and backed an anti-Israel boycott in 2014.

Even in ultra liberal Ann Arbor Michigan the city council refuses to even vote on a Boycott of Israel. Last I knew UofM had voted it down or the board of Regents had vetoed it.

There’s no way this country should ever turn their back on Israel. Not financially, not militarily, not diplomatically, and not in spirit.
