Whodunit playing out as Vatican reels from encyclical leak

VATICAN CITY — There's something of a whodunit going on in the Vatican to discover who leaked Pope Francis' environment encyclical to an Italian newsweekly, deflating the release of the most anticipated and feared papal document in recent times.

L'Espresso magazine published the full 191 pages of "Laudato Si" (Be Praised) on its website Monday, three days before the official launch. The Vatican said it was just a draft, but most media ran with it, given that it covered many of the same points Francis and his advisers have been making in the run-up to the release.

In the draft of the encyclical, Francis says global warming is "mostly" due to human activity and the burning of fossil fuels. He calls for a radical change in behavior to save the planet for future generations and prevent the poor from suffering the worst effects of industry-induced environmental degradation.

-snip-

Not to mention that the Vatican has had a long and storied history of leaked documents: The last big scandal in 2012 resulted in the pope's butler being put on trial for stealing his private papers and passing them off to an Italian journalist. He was convicted but was eventually pardoned by Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI.

In the aftermath of the "Vatileaks" scandal, the Vatican City State updated its criminal code to include severe penalties for anyone who leaks a Vatican document or publishes news from it: Up to two years in prison and a 5,000 euro ($5,600) fine.

Francis has catered to the Castros, Putin, the radical Muslims, accepted homosexuality as being O.k. (regardless of what the new testament says), is making radical and bad changes to doctrine all in the name of looking current. There were and are limits and he passed them.

Immorality is now the acceptable.

"Francis says global warming is "mostly" due to human activity and the burning of fossil fuels. He calls for a radical change in behavior to save the planet for future generations and prevent the poor from suffering the worst effects of industry-induced environmental degradation."

Where does Francis get the expertise to come to any of these conclusions. This is a Marxist-political screed not a scientific position.

“there’s something of a whodunit going on in the Vatican to discover who leaked Pope Francis’ environment encyclical”

So, Pope Francis the Marxist has decided to go the Obama way
and do the word of God top secret and classified. And like
the Obama with our freedom and rights, the Marxist Francis
is going to negotiate and compromise on the principals of
Christianity. Yep, the Catholic Church is as thoroughly
infiltrated and compromised as our federal government,
congress, senate and judiciary.

It wasn’t Magister who “leaked” it in the first place...he just published it after it had already been made available by a newspaper.

The Vatican just wanted to get rid of him because they perceive him as not being a devotee of Pope Francis. Although he’s certainly pretty fair in his treatment of the Pope, and if Kasper and the others in Francis’ inner circle get criticized, it’s from their own interviews.

As for the “leak,” quite frankly, it wouldn’t have happened if Francis hadn’t wanted it. I think the “leak” was just sort of a preemptive strike to see which parts were going to cause the greatest problem and might need “rewording” to make them more devious.

They made a formal announcement of it today. But he wasn’t even the first one to “leak” it. The apparatchiks were gunning for him.

They have shut down some Spanish language blogs, btw, because the blogs weren’t sufficiently adoring of the Pope. They’ve done it by putting pressure on the publisher (in the case of an on-line daily page that hosted blogs, a common model in Europe) or, when the writer is a priest, but telling the bishop to forbid him to publish.

The left is always into serious hardball.

Drop John Paul. He paved the way for the Argentinian nit wit. Put this one in his place:

All those that followed Pius XII were complicit in tossing Catholic doctrine, tenets and rubrics out the window as a result of Vatican II. An entirely new religion was created that inserted man in the place of Jesus Christ.
