U.S. lawmakers have voted to block American troops from training a unit with neo-Nazi members that’s operating with Ukraine’s forces — a move that raises questions about what safeguards Canada has to ensure it doesn’t help extremist groups.
Canadian soldiers from Petawawa Garrison in the Ottawa Valley are preparing to head to Ukraine later in the summer to train government forces. U.S. troops are already there.

It’s easy to see why Representative John Conyers, a Michigan Democrat, would have a problem with the military unit commanded by Ukrainian legislator Andriy Biletsky: Conyers is a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus, Biletsky is a white supremacist.
The House of Representatives has unanimously approved an amendment to the U.S. military budget, proposed by Conyers and Florida Republican Ted Yoho, banning support and training for “the Ukrainian neo-Nazi paramilitary militia ‘Azov Battalion.’”

Talk about ironic as Canada “usually” has a zero tolerance policy with regard to this whole topic.
So we had no problem siding with murderous communists all through WWII to kill murderous Nazis, but we now have a problem training suspected/wannabe neo-Nazis to fight Russian authoritarian imperialists?
I hope the Ukrainians get around this by having entire units of the Azov battalion temporarily merge with “mainstream” Ukrainian units.
The irony is that these "Neo-Nazis" represent perhaps around 300 or 400 solders, with many of them being elderly or women who couldn't get into any other units, while Russian forces wave Nazi and Communist banners and scream about "Jewish Banderovites running the Kiev Junta".
You will not hear this from McGruff or the other boot lickers of Russia's regime though.

From what I can tell Azov doesn’t intend to actually fight anyway. Just march around Mariupol and film Youtube videos giving each other promotions.
