It was the responsibility of that boy’s father to do what the boy was forced to do. No doubt there are numerous other kids out there who are feeling a sense of relief. Hopefully they will come forth and support this young man who is facing prison.

The courtroom broke into applause after Fredericks finished testifying, shocking the prosecutor, NBC New York reported.

“Passion provocation could not be disproved beyond a reasonable doubt,” he (the prosecutor)said, the media outlet reported.

The courtroom wanted to hand him a medal and the prosecutor only agreed to a reduced sentence because he thought he couldn't make a harsher one stick. In hindsight it seems better to have put his future in the hands of his peers rather than the state.

He does not look young to me.

I still want to know when this happened. Not at all indicated in the story. Can only go by his photos.

Apparently the victim never told his father or anyone else.

So how is it the father’s responsibility if he does not know anything?

Not anymore.

6 for Cubs, 9 for Webelos.

They keep inching everything back to make kids constantly under activity.

I’m actually pretty tired of this endless parade of “structured activity” for kids.

Not then.

Of course, I’m sure it was basically Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, so even if they did ask, he just didn’t have to tell.

There is such a thing as jury nullification.

Its the prime responsibility of fathers to protect their sons from vile homosexuals. Its not getting any easier these days but it still must be done.

So, naturally, we need to invite more Homos into the Boy Scouts to teach them it is not rape, but pure natural behavior.

Wow! Sounds like a movie scene.

Murder is horrible, but so was the abuse this man endured. I hope he can find peace.

So what are they to do? Constantly interrogate and shake down their kids about whether anyone has touched them in bad ways?

It’s not the fathers’ fault if they cannot get their kids to tell them every bitty detail about what’s happened to them. Why would it come up? And why bring it up (something nasty) if it’s not apparent? Only makes the kid more paranoid and learn about some things too soon.

If true, the appropriate verdict is obvious, and three cheers to the boy for ensuring that no other children would be harmed by an evil man. However, the key word is “if”. That makes it a tricky situation.

Just last night I was speaking with a 71 year old man who had a guy try to molest him when he was a young boy. He was unsuccessful but even 60 some years later, it was emotional for him to tell me the story.

From what I read, others have come forward over the years, but the prosecutor wouldn’t bring charges.

I’m not sure juries come into play once people confess to killings.

I’m also not a lawyer, so I could be wrong.

I served on a jury for a man who confessed to rape. A confession doesn’t nullify the right to a jury trial.

Yes but in this case, it sounds like a deal has been made. That would eliminate the need for a jury, I would think.
