I think the punishment is OK, considering “extenuating circumstances”. Not sure we can go around supporting detached revenge, before that spins out of control and it starts happening left and right.

But certainly the punishment can be basically a “slap on the wrist”, especially if there is no other history.

Well there is that long string of similar accusations stretching back decades that the (not dearly) departed used his law enforcement position to slide out of.
