Down here in Port Arthur up until the 50s rich tourists used to come down to land 200-400# Tarpon. Guess they overfished them, you really never hear about Tarpon at all anymore.
Oh, there’s still huge tarpon on the Gulf coast... my neighbor takes people out to fish for them around Tampa.
