Liberals up to and including the president are already using the tragedy at the SC church to try to advance gun control, so it begs the question, what gun control law would have prevented the tragedy?
Assault weapon bans are a favorite of anti gunners basically because they are scary looking and have large magazines. Yet reports say Roof reloaded up to 5 times. Clearly a new AWB would not have prevented the massacre.
What about universal registration? The answer is simple, it wouldn't. Universal registration is only valuable to the police to track the last person who bought the gun from a licensed dealer.
And the latest darling of the anti-gunners, universal background checks for all gun transfers. From the news reports the shooter had never been convicted of a felony or domestic violence so even if he had to pass a background check, he would have passed.
Then there is the old standby, waiting periods before you can take possession of a firearm. Wouldn't have helped since he obtained the firearm months before the crime. Besides if someone is planning to commit a mass killing, they would not be deterred by waiting a few days or even a few months. It didn't stop Adam Lanza from murdering his mother and taking her guns.
Anti-gunners would love to force everyone to undergo a psychological evaluation before "allowing" them to own a firearm. To a liberal wanting to own a firearm is enough evidence to say you are too paranoid to have one. However, that aside, Dylan Roof's friends all say that aside from the occasional racist joke, he showed no signs of murderous racism and no mental disorder. Also, almost anyone who was planning on murdering multiple people would be clever enough to conceal it from a psychologist.
So what does that leave? Total confiscation from the public? Besides being unconstitutional, it would start a civil war that would not be pretty. Also it didn't stop a person in China from getting a gun and shooting 5 people.
So, tell me, Mr. President, what would have prevented this?
Heard on the Joe Pags show that he (Dylann Roof) had pending felony drug charges from Feb., 2015, and his father gave him the gun in April, 2015 (”B-day gift”). Pending felony charges get you turned down on a NICS background check and I think that makes the “gifting” of the weapon illegal as well? Any experts out there? So in other words existing laws would have prevented this way of getting the weapon barring the “straw purchase”by the dad.

My personal opinion in watching BO yesterday... The President feels he missed his chance after Sandy Hook but now he's got a second opportunity. An even better opportunity. The perfect storm. Not only a mass shooting but a racist mass shooting. When the mourning subsides, he will have an executive order or two ready to go and there will be a full-scale attack on the 2nd Amendment.
obama will not leave office without some attack on the 2nd Amendment. He will throw things in chaos again as far as ammo goes. Stock up now!
