The thing that struck me most about this nonsensical manifesto - because that’s what it is, not an encyclical - is how 1970s it was. Those were clearly his glory days.

He’s an old man now, and he’s having an old man’s Luddite fantasies about how much better things were in the good old days. (I also do think he’s a little bit gaga - some of the things he says make no sense.)

The unfortunate part is that he seems to think he’s the ultimate authority and rather than just being an old man venting in his rocker somewhere, he’s trying to impose his backwardness on the world. Don’t forget, his manifesto was directed not just at Catholics, but at “all people living on the earth.” A little bit of chutzpah, I’d say.

The Pope and the UN should stick to the Job they’re there for and stay out out the FAKE GLOBAL WARMING

Francis, “The Last Pope”.

That’s what they get for electing a Jesuit.

Right. Pope wants to go back to the agrarian economy of the Middle Ages. It was because of the Industrial Revolution, sparked by the fossil fuels and electricity that powered the machines, that living standards were able to rise so much in the “developed” world. “Developing” countries want nothing to do with “climate control” because they want to raise their living standards too.

If the Vatican wants to inject themselves into our politics, it’s time they start paying their taxes.

Absolutely right. Someone needs to tell the Pope that the Protestant Reformation happened. Countries are no longer ruled by Kings who can be threatened with hellfire and damnation and excommunication if they don’t adhere to Papal proclamations.

Pope thinks he’s in the Middle Ages (or wishes it were so).

Did I miss the sarc tag or humor tag on this? So now he’s going to dictate what politicians do? The end times false prophet is beginning to come to mind.

Well, the medieval popes were at least defending the Church and its teachings, so you could say they were doing their jobs.

Who’s he defending? Al Gore? The UN? Sorry, he has no right to even suggest that we have to listen to him on that.

It is especially disgusting in light of the obvious fact that the Pope is utterly untroubled by abortion. He deliberately appoints bishops who are vociferous supporters of Communion-for-Pelosi. Despite the fact that giving Communion to Pelosi is a mortal sin.

He had a pattern, in Buenos Aires, of exiling those who didn’t think like him to the farthest corners of the diocese.

His “humility” is a POSE. He’s a complete phony.

Further evidence this white-robed marxist’s prime target is America. His tyranny must be resisted.

This “pope” needs to pay some attention to his pedophile priests and GTFO of America’s business.

As I see it we are heading for essentially Tower of Babel II.

GMTA! Can 'did God really say?' be far behind?

I agree. He was known to have been completely dictatorial in BA, and he obviously hasn’t changed a bit. Also, he’s brought some of his enforcers from Argentina with him to Rome.
