Massachusetts was the first colony with slaves and they were the center of the slave trade for years.
Massachusetts never outlawed slavery and it wasn't until 1865 that it was abolished by the 13th amendment.
The northerners and the teachers' union didn't want you to know that.
I think they still have a state church statute too

A bit of historical irony. The very day that the confederate flag came down over Columbia, and the same day Columbia was burned to the ground by Union soldiers, who slashed the fire hoses of the fire brigades, 20 black women were raped by Union soldiers and one black woman was murdered. No white women were raped, because citizens kept firearms and because of the southern code of honor. It is part of he historical record. They never taught this in high school.
So much for the Union loving black people.
The people mourning at the Church are far more representative of the real black community than the ‘AstroTurf’ protesters.

The Confederate Constitution declared slavery to be an eternal "right" that CANNOT be abolished.
The U.S. Constitution did not.
