Yes. Thousands of blacks owned slaves. There were over 3,000 blacks in New Orleans alone who were slave owners. Some blacks in the south owned hundreds of slaves. Some were slave breeders. They sold their own children into slavery.

I wonder if Jefferson would have dared own slaves, had not first black slave owners been permitted to carry on their nefarious trade.
