An Australian comic on what U.S. gun laws look like to the rest of the world
The Washington Post ^ | June 19, 2015 | Ana Swanson

"I'm going to talk about something now that sort of splits the crowd a little bit," Australian comedian Jim Jeffries says. "Gun control."

"Don't get excited," he continues, "because the other people have guns!"

"Shhhhh."

In this hilarious act, Jeffries says he believes in the right of Americans to have gun, but seems skeptical of the argument -- often made by gun rights activists often claim -- that Americans need guns for their own security.

"In Australia we had guns, right up until 1996. In 1996 Australia had the biggest massacre on earth. Still hasn't been beaten," Jeffries says. "Now after that they banned guns. Now in the 10 years before Port Arthur, there were 10 massacres. Since the gun ban in 1996, there hasn't been a single massacre since. I don't know how or why this happened. Maybe it was a coincidence."

Yes, due process is important.

I suspect that Australia isn’t much different than here in that a large percentage of the population, especially in the cities, believes whatever it is told and will laugh uproariously when it is a comedian telling it. Comedians everywhere are very very good at spreading the propaganda that big government loving types feed them.

I have a feeling that people on remote cattle stations and other places in the Outback might have a different opinion.

Gun control is socialism by excellence. Basically society should peovide safety according to sheeples. Since a free society requires one to be responsible for one’s own safety then free society is bad according to sheeple.

Liberals want a utopia where little kids can walk around without parental supervision and never getting attacked. Never going to happen.

Been thinking.....I can’t name ONE country where an individual citizen’s claim to government protection from crime is an absolute, guaranteed right. By this I mean a country where if one is the victim of any crime that citizen could, in a court of law, seek restitution from said government on the basis of ‘failure to protect’. In essence, citizens under seize are at the mercy of a government response time which has no legal, binding standard of length....could be minutes, hours, or no response at all until an investigation is required. And as I mentioned in another post, with the right software, a laptop, a 3D printer, and a milling machine, ‘gun control’ for those who really desire a weapon is laughable.

So a bunch of liberal freaks who run everything, laugh at my values, mock the things I consider to be important, sneer at my concerns, pass rules/regulations against my wishes, help themselves to my money/freedom and treat me like something they just stepped in now say they want to disarm me?

Gee - I can’t imagine why.

If you’ve ever seen this lying faggot, you’d want to bust him in the mouth just for being himself. A total douche who makes a fortune from Americans telling Americans what’s wrong with America. And about as funny as liver cancer.

True. Plus that “quote” from Hitler is made up. There is no contemporary record anywhere of him having said it. Same with the one supposedly from Adm. Yamamoto about an American with a gun behind every blade of grass. That stuff doesn’t help convince anyone.

First, he needs to go look up the crime statistics in his beloved Australia pretty and post ban. Then he may not be so proud of creating defenseless victims. Then he needs to not limit himself to looking at wrongful death by gun vs legal deaths by gun each year. He needs to look at how many times guns are used to defend someone without having to kill anyone. Hint, that number is several orders of magnitude larger.

Norway
Russia (Beslan)

He list of attacks which resulted in more deaths than Port Arthur is fairly long. This guy is an idiot.

The crime rate has exploded in Australia since the gun ban.

Do concentration camps count as “massacres?”

I remember that Australia used to control immigration: no Blacks, no Indians, nobody from Muslim countries, etc. and Australia was a very low crime country.

Perhaps we could send them the contents of our prisons and they’d figure out something about our ‘gun culture.’

“Still hasn't been beaten,” Jeffries says.” YES you were, you were beaten into submission by your own Government!

This is why America had better wake up! It is the government who wants to ban weapons because they fear the American people!

When you fear your government, you have tyranny!

When the government fears the people, you have FREEDOM!

I find it interesting that the Australians weren’t picky about gun control laws when the Japs were at the door back in 1941!
Neither were the British after Dunkirk. Their home guards practiced with pitchforks, hoes and sticks until those ARMED AMERICANS sent shiploads of privately owned guns to stave off an invasion of Nazis.

Gun crimes in Australia have actually increased in recent years. Criminals and terrorists simply don’t obey gun laws
