During a press conference on Monday, Gov. Nikki Haley will ask that the Confederate flag on the grounds of South Carolina's capitol be removed, according to the Post and Courier. The move from the popular governor (reelected last year by 15 points and with 79 percent approval last April) will almost certainly help encourage the state legislature to vote for removal. As it stands, the legislature needs a two-thirds vote to make that happen -- a high bar.

As with most things, the matter of the Confederate Battle Flag on the grounds of the South Carolina State Capitol will be decided based on cash flow.

That fact is open to debate I would say the results of a second civil war soul determine indivisibility... I believe we should sever ties peacefully before the bullets fly...

“The way it is now, however, after these shootings, nobody will be able to look at that flag again without having seriously negative thoughts, and it shouldn’t fly over official buildings”

Could never understand the hatred over a Confederate battle flag. It was never flown over the first slave ship that brought blacks to America. That flag was Old Glory. It was never proudly held high by soldiers as they massacred the plains Indian wholesale for years and years. That flag was Old Glory. Old Glory was also the preferred flag of the KKK. Hell, the CSA battle flag, or more appropriately the Second National, is not even the official flag of the Confederacy, it was just one of many battle flags.

I fail to understand the romanticism about the confederate battle flag. The Southern states fought to defend a way of life. A way of life that was founded upon enslaving others.

I believe in states' rights, but what a lousy symbol for the concept of states' rights. I'd prefer they fly a flag with "10th Amendment" emblazoned across it, but it's up to the elected representatives of South Carolina to decide, wisely or stupidly, the choice is theirs.

Pity them , for they know not what they do . Nor they care .
Personally I do not mind if the CBF is no longer ‘officially’ flown , per the orders of former DEMOCRAT Gov Fritz Hollings , on top of , or in front of the S.C. State capitol . If that’s what it takes to keep the nation-wide cabal of anti-white from launching their insurgency in S.C. and rioting in S.C. ,then it’s a small sacrifice . Columbia was burned by damned Yankees once , that’s enough .
I do hope that more people who in love & honor , not in hate or racism , respect our many types of Confederate flags , continue to fly them and support CSA remembrance events and and do not let that heritage acknowledge become marginalized or shunned . Become a ‘reenactor ‘ . JOIN SCV if you are eligible . Create positive blogs , study and promote your own ancestral and glorious history . There are many ways to go along with this ‘new change’ . Knuckling under and slinking away need not be one of them . And in addition , there should be a strong movement among CSA ancestral activists to see to it that that nasty little punk that caused this grievous tragedy , be put to death ASAP . Otherwise these same Democrat and p/c defamers of Southern heritage will have him comfortably living on taxpayers funds , awaiting years and years of appeal .
I say he should be run up that same pole they take the CBF down from , by the neck , tomorrow .....and left there for awhile . THAT would be an appropriate message to send to would-be mass murderers

The Democrats were the traditional conservative party in the 19th century. The Republicans were the liberals. The two sides have since switched but why educate a stupid jerk, most seem incapable of grasping US history.

Actually only about 4% of the ships carrying slaves to America held American registry. And a few of those were owned and run by southerners. Who cares? The reason why so much antipathy for the CBF is because, unlike the United States flag, it represents a movement that fought to preserve and expand slavery at a time with the civilized world was turning away from it.

Nikkie is another useless RINO. She could AT LEAST have taken the opportunity to point out it was the DEMS that put the flag above the capitol. Fritz Hollings to be exact.

“Craven twit. This one might get her some praise from the media and the elitists, so she’ll be happy.”

Nonsense. She is smart to take the issue off the table.

The flag thing is a total distraction from much bigger issues. China hacking the government and stealing the country’s secrets to name just one. That’s HUGE. No one’s talking about it. I wonder why?

The left wing media creates a straw man and then conservatives immediately go on the defensive and scramble around like idiots, and Obozo is off the hook for the security breach, ISIS, and all his other f-ups.

The Confereate flag belongs in a museum not on a public flag pole. Yes, it is part of history but keep it at that.

Nikki Haley just gave a boost to mob rule. No, the flag had nothing to do with the shooting. Blaming something or somebody falsely is disgusting. When is she up for reelection?
