I have a cousin who summed up situations like this years ago.

"Some people are just dumber than dog shit."

How did she think this was going to play?

No one was going to be happy about her not showing up. There was going to be consequences of some kind.

Some people just don’t think things through to their logical conclusion. That, or she’d gotten away with so much else that she thought she was untouchable.
