“It may be right around the corner to push for one of two things: #1 A convention of the state’s or #2 peaceful secession.”

The magic number is 38.

With 38 states, the Supreme Court can be dissolved, the President booted from office, even eliminate Congress.

38 states acting as one is the ultimate authority in this country.

“The National Republican Party will not have Governor Abbott’s back on this.”

That means nothing.

Abbott went up against the National Party’s candidate and beat him handily(same guy who Cruz beat BTW).

Texans elected Abbott, not some national party.

Texans will have his back.

Bingo. Never urinate in the states’ Cheerios too often. Especially 38 of them.

We must not forget that most people don’t want this. Majority of states don’t want this. States are angry at congress. We have more power, more firepower, and more determination than a bunch of hooligans inside the corrupt walls of D.C. WE THE PEOPLE have most states on our side on these issues.

Liberals and progressives are weasels. That’s why they have to do everything sneaky and corrupt. They whine and cry in front of the black robed thugs.

Swat is getting briefed routinely on the ISIS threats. Especially here in Texas where we experienced the first attack from ISIS. The major concern is home grown. And we just told our Muslims that gay marriage is the law. Expect fatwahs and jihads to be issued thanks to the few homos we have.

Isn’t 38 also the number of states that just got their laws overturned? Hmmm...

But... doesn’t the Congress have to also approve it, which they will never do? And what good is a constitutional convention among a bunch of radicals who have already made clear they care not a fig for the Constitution, and they have their moles in place now to make everything they’ve dreamed happened. The governor is promising to uphold the rights of Texas citizens who object to "being forced to act in ways contrary to his or her religious beliefs regarding marriage." There are, of course, those who do not object to same-sex unions. (Yes, even in Texas, we have liberals.)

There would be a few licenses issued but finding someone to marry the gay couple would present yet another hurdle. There would be no obligation to perform the ceremony simply because a license is issued. After all, just because you are 21 doesn't mean a bartender is obligated to serve you a drink. Bottom line, the Texas Constitution is set up to allow individual freedoms and restrict government intrusion. That is one reason why the document itself is so long...87,000 words compared to the 4,500 in U.S. Constitution. Texas fathers knew that spelling out the rights of individuals would help insure personal freedoms so dear to hearts of all.

Oh, the horror. Some 125-lb liberal punk calls you a name. We best draw up surrender terms.

Go read Art V. Approval by Congress is not required.

What Constitution are you reading? Is it the one of the United States?

Well said, my friend. Although "Texas secession" is spoken of as something of an anomaly, in truth it is not. Texas and ALL states have the right to secede based on the fact that the U.S. Constitution makes no statement to the contrary.

Who in their right mind doesn't see that this has come to pass?

Hooray for the sanity of at least one state! Hooray for Gov. Abbot.

If Texas stands against the SCOTUS and the federal government overstepping their bounds and violating the Constitution by “interpreting” it to mean whatever they choose at the moment, I may seriously consider moving to Texas in support.

So does this decision trump the states. I apologize for my ignorance but it all looks a little gray to me. I think the Supremes said states have to marry same sex but Abbott seems to indicate that’s not the case.

Until Governor Abbott calls a session of the Legislature to end the issuance of marriage licenses in Texas, all he has done is issue the proverbial strongly worded statement. Obama issues these statements all the time to Iran and Russia. The ayatollahs and Putin laugh at him and his bold words.

Makes me want to move to Texas!

Me too. 733 days and counting until we pull up stakes from living in this socialist crap-hole called Illinois and move to Texas.

Not that I'm counting or anything.....

Badically, the decision trumps the states from a judicial point of view. It should be noted of course that the political hacks in black muumuus do not have armed enforcers at their disposal to enforce said decision.

California voters- outright majority, twice. Both times, overturned by a judge.
