TEXAS: Governor Abbott Statement On Supreme Court Ruling On Same-Sex Marriage
Office Of The Governor ^ | June 26, 2015 | Governor Greg Abbott

Posted on 06/26/2015 1:35:40 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Governor Greg Abbott today released the following statement regarding the Supreme Court’s same-sex marriage ruling:

“The Supreme Court has abandoned its role as an impartial judicial arbiter and has become an unelected nine-member legislature. Five Justices on the Supreme Court have imposed on the entire country their personal views on an issue that the Constitution and the Court’s previous decisions reserve to the people of the States.

“Despite the Supreme Court’s rulings, Texans’ fundamental right to religious liberty remains protected. No Texan is required by the Supreme Court’s decision to act contrary to his or her religious beliefs regarding marriage.

“The Texas Constitution guarantees that ‘[n]o human authority ought, in any case whatsoever, to control or interfere with the rights of conscience in matters of religion.’ The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees the free exercise of religion; and the Texas Religious Freedom Restoration Act, combined with the newly enacted Pastor Protection Act, provide robust legal protections to Texans whose faith commands them to adhere to the traditional understanding of marriage.

“As I have done in the past, I will continue to defend the religious liberties of all Texans—including those whose conscience dictates that marriage is only the union of one man and one woman. Later today, I will be issuing a directive to state agencies instructing them to prioritize the protection of Texans’ religious liberties.”

“But the marriage licenses will be issued despite what a huge majority of the people in Texas want?”

End marriage licenses in Texas. Don’t allows marriages in the courts. Separation of church and state. Let these buggers go to Vegas to get hitched.

Problem solved.

I think the states should all pass laws saying they will issue no marriage licenses. If SCOTUS wants to legislate from the bench they can jolly well try to figure out how to get somebody to administer what they legislate.

5 people in black robes just overturned elections in 38 states That’s 76% of the states.

Traditional marriage got higher percentage votes than Obama ever got for the Presidency. So why is it, again, that SCOTUS could never take up the question of whether the Constitution allows Obama to act as President? Did somebody say something about courts not being able to overturn elections? As if the will of the people is sacred and the Constitution doesn’t allow elections to ever be reversed?

SCOTUS is part of what Ted Cruz calls the ‘Washington Cartel’ and I have taken a cue from him to call them the same.

The Beltway complex has undergone a cultural change which stinks so bad since I grew up there. The stink has lingered so long that the people that are immersed in the stink no longer smell the stink.

Kind of like driving through the countryside past the chicken farms, stinks to high heaven for people passing through and not used to it but is normal for people that live and work there.

They really do think differently now because there’s been no effective pushback.

My tagline provides the necessary pushback.

They just overruled the California Constitution, so clearly they don’t give a flip about state constitutions.

I doubt whether any open homosexual would have the stomach to walk up to a radical mosque and demand to be married or anything else.
