“Yet they also werent offended enough to pack up and leave.”
I believe the Lutheran Seminary folks counted on blindsiding them. It is a good tactic as it makes the re-enactors look like racist brats if them leave on the spot, and hopefully softens them up for next year.
The re-enactors had already made commitments and the arrangements in their lives to book the time to participate. They were THERE, and to turn around and go home - who knows? Maybe the people that were in charge jollied them along, made them feel guilty and threw some shame their way. It must have been a terrific push back for the Seminary folks to even admit that the re-enactors were not happy.
There are some decent sized brand named chains on the outskirts, but nothing like DC can offer. Still, I’m betting that a pretty massive reunion could be pulled off there if a bit of careful planning was put in. Wouldn’t have to try and do it on a darn weekday as is always the case in DC, so that the elected officials know we are there. Like they ever gave a crap. Could plan a nice weekend in the Autumn for reasonable temps.
“Yep, because every one of those removals, and changes, comes with the message of taking away racists symbols, etc. Racists = White people and American history.”
Which indeed is the goal of the Left.
Leftists like Obama know exactly what their goal is.
Right now they are using the hate campaign against the Battle Flag and the South in general in order to recruit an army of what they will consider useful idiots, people who think this is some sort of grand moral crusade when in fact it is a war against the American people and American culture.
Only the ELCA. The other Lutheran bodies are not.
